In a recent "interview with KDKA News in Pittsburgh when he [Trump] was asked whether he supported any restrictions on a person’s right to contraception.
“We’re looking at that, and I’m going to have a policy on that very shortly, and I think it’s something that you’ll find interesting,” Trump said. “I think it’s a smart decision. But we’ll be releasing it very soon.”

Trump later walked back his remarks after they were widely published, drawing a strong backlash.

Then, last week, the Senate Majority leader called for a vote on a bill that would guarantee a woman's access to contraception, effectively preventing states from placing restrictions on contraception.

"Nine Republicans ducked the vote; all other male Republicans voted against it. Two female Republicans and all Democrats present voted for it."

Prior to the vote:
Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) underscored the significance of the moment. “What message do we want to send our constituents? That we support their right to birth control? That we support access to IUDs, to Plan B? Or that we are okay taking that right away, and letting politicians make medical decisions for women in this country,” she said. “I know where I stand — with the overwhelming majority of people who support that right. And soon we will know exactly where every Republican senator stands, too.”

They should be against any abortifacients.
The discussion is about contraception. The use of which generally prevents the need to use abortifacients. The GOP seems keen on losing as many female votes as it can.

The hardline point of view is that IUDs kill zygotes and that oral contraceptives, if they fail to prevent conception, have altered the uterine lining and can also kill zygotes.
So the hardline life groups believe that oral contraceptives and IUDs should also be banned.
Thus would have an extreme effect on fertility. Imagine all the schools the pro-life politicians would refuse to build, the uninsured children they'd refuse to cover, the hungry they'd refuse to feed. A conservative red-liner's feast!

Well, I am not part of either party, but this is what 538 had to say. I purposely covered abortion with a grey rectangle, as this conversation is about contraceptives only. Contraception is supported between ~60% and 90% by the GOP, and ~80% and 90% by the Democrats based upon this graph.

They should be against any abortifacients. But the party is largely wimpy when it comes to abortion.

Plan B doesn't work as an abortofacient. People that say it works that way are ignorant of the biological mechanism.

Nobody really cares how Americans feel. Do it again for religious and political leaders.
They did Congress:

'Nine Republicans ducked the vote; all other male Republicans voted against it.'

That's 95% Republicans against contraception. And 100% of Democrats for it.

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. Technically speaking, pregnancy does not begin until implantation, so drugs or other interventions which prevent implantation are not abortifacients.
Religiously speaking--for some religions--pregnancy begins at conception.Yes, oral contraceptives and IUDs are on the hit list.

Then they are going to have to start writing anti-abortion law that way or they are going to get challenged.

We need to differentiate between contraception and birth control. Because the "morning-after pill" is considered birth control and not merely the prevention of pregnancy, many people are against it. Contraception, the prevention of the fertilization of the egg, is fine with almost everybody I have ever talked to. Those who believe that life begins at conception will naturally be against "birth control" since it includes the killing of the new life.

Given the current Supreme Court composition, hold on to your seats. I'm pretty sure eventually some religious organizations will says IUD's and oral contraceptives cause abortions and sue doctors and hospitals prescribing them.

The discussion is about contraception.
What about natural birth control. Like the program on most smart watches where they monitor temperature. My wife use to help women get pregnant by helping them understand their natural cycle and when they are futile.

That's fine as a religious position, but it's going to be a hard sell for the rest of us, seeing as not all fertilized eggs will implant and nobody seems to care.

If so, then some people have been pregnant for decades. With frozen embryos, a pregnancy can outlast the parents' lives.

I care because I lost my daughter because of that. I had a dream about her in Heaven. There are a lot of children that were aborted that are hoping beyond hope that their parents will get saved and go to heaven. But they know the odds are against that. When my daughter found out I was saved she and her friends all rejoiced and were happy. Also my son is in Heaven now, so he can tell her about me.

pregnancy begins at conception
At or before conception we are given all of our gifts, talents and ability's. We need to use what we have to bring praise, honor and glory to God. God writes the book of our life before we are born. The angels can read that book to help us to be the people God has created us to be.

Psalm 139:16 says, "Your eyes saw my body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be"

We go through stages in our life and it is a stretch but days could mean that.
