I like how so many people are heavily on the libertarian side of things. Whether on the right or the left, that's got to be a good thing.

eudaimonia,

Mark

Yes, I think so. Having said that, I wouldn't trust too many peoples economic policies here (apart from your good self).

Hmm. While I've remained around the same in the left/right axis since last time, I've moved some towards Libertarian.

When you come back to obsessively check your score, is there anyway of resetting my post count? I've got over 1700 posts since January and quite frankly I'm not proud of it. And someone was looking over my shoulder and clocked my posts, a bit embarrassing I'm sure you'd agree.

I'll see if anything can be done, although I doubt there's any way to change it unless there's been a bug or something. I'm fairly sure there's a way hide your post count, though.
(besides, I'm nearing the 10,000 mark. 1700 is nothing!)

[De-Rail] What you want is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. It charts your personality on four scales: Introvert/Extrovert, Intuiting/Sensing¹, Thinking/Feeling², and Perceiving/Judging³.

¹ I prefer to call this scale Forest/Tree, since Sensing people usually describe Intuiting people as "He can't see the trees for the forest, and Intuiting people say just the opposite about Sensing people. The original terms were coined by a Sensing person and gives a false impression about how an Intuiting person gets data (it's through his senses as well, not through some sort of hocus-pocus)

² (Whether you are more rational like Spock or more emotional like Dr McCoy)

³ (Whether you spend more time "Percieving" -- gathering data (using your Sensing or "Intuiting") or "Judging" -- acting on the data (using your Thinking or Feeling)

To take the official MBTI, you need to find someone trained in administering and interpreting it (and of course, that comes with a professional fee), but there are lots of Internet tests based on the Myers-Briggs types. Most aren't worth what you pay for them, even if they are free, but there are some good ones out there if you look. Many of them only test the I/E and T/F scales, including some of the good ones. And most of the cheesy ones change the names of the scales (although that is not the best guide, since some of the good ones do, too). [/De-Rail]

Myers-Briggs is something else since the four temperaments can also be classified on the "things affect/don't affect you in the short term" (hot/cold) and "things affect/don't affect you in the long term" (dry/wet). You can line up the four temperaments with Myer-Briggs types but it doesn't work out very nicely. And really with any four personality type system you can always line the four personality types up in some way. If thats all we cared about we might as well do Japanese blood type personality.

I think that libertarian economics are poisonous to the working class (of which I am a proud part). However! YOU have single-handedly convinced me to to judge people who are economically libertarian just by being who you are.

Here it is: http://quiz.ivillage.com/astrology/tests/sexandthecity.htm

It's about as accurate as the political compass, and I think it tells a lot about a person's socio-political beliefs. In fact, it may be more telling.

:p

Indeed, it is a very telling test. I'm Carrie apparently (50% Carrie, 20% Miranda, 20% Samantha, 10% Charlotte). Interesting, as Carrie and Miranda were my least favourite characters. I think the test is telling me I secretly hate myself ^_^

Disclaimer: I was forced to watch Sex in the City for years, honest.

Thanks! (((Hallie)))

Honestly, it reassures me that there are people with your insight and generous nature on the economic left.

Thanks for the link!

I scored 40% Miranda (my favourite character of the series, so that wasn't a surprise), 30% Carrie, 30% Charlotte, and 0% Samantha. Apparently, earth signs like Miranda (and astrologically I'm a Taurus) are materialistic - that is so not me! If I were materialistic, I'd be more ambitious and pragmatic. But yes, I am cynical, and Miranda was the biggest feminist of the four - I identify with that, too.

Still, I think 40% is pretty low as a highest score - I think I'm a mixture of Miranda, Charlotte and Carrie. I don't have anything in common with Samantha, so that was a good observation.

Ha ha that was fun.
I scored 40% Carrie
30% Miranda
20% Charlotte
10% Samantha

I think this quiz got me pegged, just about.
