It's good enough of a strategy that you guys fall for it every single time.

I mean, look at him go. He has completely derailed and destroyed this thread. It wouldn't have been possible without your help, though.

I can't argue with that.

Please indicate which statement(s) you think is/are true regarding "the event" mentioned in Question 3:

1. The Event resulted in the formation of all inorganic matter and all energy only.

2. The Event resulted in the formation of all inorganic matter, all organic matter, and all energy only.

(Feel free to reword the statements if you don't understand what I'm getting at. It's not meant as a trick question.)

According to the BB theory, the initial expansion and subsequent condensation of energy only produced hydrogen, helium, and trace amounts of lithium. Heavier elements require fusion in stars.

Obviously, life on Earth continues to create organic molecules from inorganic molecules, and there are other abiotic processes producing organic molecules. This is an ongoing process.

In the end, this event resulted in everything, including me typing these words into my keyboard.

But most people wouldn't say that the big bang created anything bigger than Lithium, and everything bigger was created by other, following processes. So, mostly 1.

Only as in the event resulted in nothing more or only as in nothing but the event provided with the listed elements?

Kind of makes a huge difference :p

1 is a better approximation, but it's not correct. The "Event" formed only elements that have a low atomic number, not "all inorganic matter". It certainly didn't form complex organic molecules.

Well, it formed the elements with low atomic numbers, but the other elements are made out of them, right? So it still formed the matter, it just wasn't organised in the way it was organised later in the process.

That doesn't fit the context of the general use of these terms. If what you claim is true, then everyone should say "13.7 billion years" when they are asked for their age.

All matter/energy (organic and inorganic) that currently exists derives from the matter/energy that existed after the Big Bang. The specific list of contents has changed over time through processes, such as nuclear synthesis in stars that 'burn' hydrogen and helium into heavier elements.

Sounds about right (better than how I would've worded it).

Since you are so frank, Dysert, would you mind telling us why you chose this thread title?

I am aware of the saying "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread."

Or were you referring to the poem written by the pope?

I was not referring to the poem but to the saying. I chose the title because I felt that by opening myself up with these questions I would come across as foolish.

Ok, so the consensus seems to be that the results of The Event were the elements with low atomic numbers, specifically elements with atomic numbers <= lithium's. And the higher elements were formed over time by these lower elements interacting with each other?

That is not just the consensus here, but the scientific consensus.

That is not just the consensus here, but the scientific consensus.

And we can still observe it, right here and right now.

That CMB stuff someone thought up reminds me of a joke I once heard:

COP: What are doing under this street light?
MAN: I'm looking for my keys.
COP: Where did you drop them?
MAN: Down the alley there.
COP: Then why are you searching here?
MAN: I can see better in this light.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
