I wonder what would happen if 100's of people arrived at Church but not in the Name of Jesus. Would Jesus be in their midst because they are at the Church building with a preacher to preach? If the Name of Jesus is mentioned once in the entire assembly, I guess that would mean that they gathered in His Name.

What kind of churches are you going where the focus isn't on Christ? If this is the case, perhaps find a new church?

In the context of Jesus' words, He is explaining how fellow church members ought to conduct themselves when sin has interfered. There is a formal, established method for rooting out sin and helping each other to grow in holiness and unity. When we exercise Jesus' prescription, we can be sure that He is working in and through us, enabling us by the power of His grace to build His church and keep the the gates of Hell from prevailing against us.
