  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

did you start to show?
did you start to gain weight?

I am going for my half way scan on Monday and I haven't started to show and I have only gained half a kilo.:help: I'm starting to wonder if I will ever have a pregnant belly and I'm a bit worried about the baby not getting enough to eat so I could do with some reassurance.

I had a lady in at work today who was 23ish weeks along and she wasn't much bigger than you are.
She didn't look pregnant at all, it was only through conversation that i found out she was so far along.

I think every woman is different in the way they carry their babies and how much they show. I see alot of pregnant ladies all the time and no-one looks the same.

Anyone else had this experience?

With my history I'd kinda like to hear lots of stories of women whose babies were growing when they weren't. Every time I go for a scan I'm certain that the tech will say that bubs isn't growing and I've got one coming up so I'm extra nervous.

I wasn't really noticably pregnant until after about 23 weeks with my first pregnancy. I did get bigger in the last 10-15 weeks though, are you naturally small anyway? The baby only weighs about 3-4kg when it is born anyway, plus the other associated stuff to go with it (yes, that is the technical term...) so really it isn't that bad that you haven't put on much weight.

Do you feel the baby moving yet?

I knew a woman who didn't show At All until she was 7 months along with All 4 of her babies. There were many people who didn't even believe she was pregnant each time (she didn't even have m/s or anything). Then she'd suddenly pop out (seemingly overnight) and just look like she was carrying a basketball in her belly. lol All 4 of her babies were in the 7lb range, so totally normal weights.

Some women just carry more "in" than others. I, on the ohter hand, am popped out Big Time~ but I've only gained 8lbs so far (I'm 26 weeks). Looks can definately be deceiving. ;) lol

Thanks everyone! It's so reassuring to hear these stories.

Yes C2G I am naturally small. My parents keep on at me about weight gain because apparently I need to gain more weight than average because of my prepregnancy weight, and that's not helping to reassure me.

Also, last time bubs was measured at scan it measured a bit small for dates (which I know are right because I know when I ovulated and because I was dated by scan early on).

You may just have a smaller baby. Not all babies are going to be exactly the same size. My daughter is small for her age still. Although I much prefer the term "petite" :)

Try not to worry too much, I know that it is easier said than done. when is your scan?

I didn't show until around 8 months with my dd and now i still am not showing with my 3rd baby but I just had a scan and baby is okay and I have lost about 10 lbs, my doc said that the baby will take what it need first and you get whatever is leftover.

I'm glad to hear your bubs is going well, you were worried about your weight too, right?

I like that too, 'petite'. My next scan is this coming Monday and I think I only worry because it has always been at a scan that we have found out that our babies have died. Lol, everyone said that once I could feel the baby moving I would be feel calmer and more connected but I've been feeling the baby for a little over 5 weeks now and I still worry that the baby will be dead at the scan.

I was over 30 weeks with my first before I had any belly really I had a little one but by 32 weeks I was average. Really enjoy not haveing a belly for a while once you get one it can get quiet heavy. Although I remember really wanting one.

With my 4th I had a big belly by 20 weeks.

I'm more worried about the weight gain than the belly. We haven't told many people we're pregnant and I'm kinda enjoying the fact that I don't have to talk about it so it's nice that they can't tell.

I'm just home from my scan and baby is small, but only one week behind where it should be.

I feel much better now. Go baby! Thanks everyone.:hug:

See? We TOLD you!

Glad everything is going well - you might have a longer gestation period, like me. Look at Anna - 13 days over a 7lbs. And even Angus - 17 days over and 8lb 5oz.
