  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

2000 years and counting....

Romans 13:11 Paul says our 'salvation is nearer than we first believed.'

Honestly, did he expect Christ to return 10,000 years into the future and somehow it is closer than that? what, 4000, 3000, 2000 years from Paul?

Paul wasn't talking about the second coming in Rom. 13:11.

Remember Peter says that in the last days people will ask 'where is the promise of his coming?' etc.

Remember the bridegroom tarried in Mt. 25.

Christ will return, as promised. It's only a matter of time.

After 2000 years I can hardly blame them. Then Peter goes on to compare 1 day to 1000 years.

Maybe Paul missed that part.

2000 years is not a long time by God's standards.

Moses in Psalm 90 compares 1000 years as a day to God.

Jesus Christ indicates several times that it will be awhile before his return (the bridegroom tarried; the Son of Man went into a far country, etc.).

I think we will continue to progress, things continue to get better. In every measurable way, in the aggregate, quality of life for the world's population is improving.

The Second Coming theology is a result of the hopes of an oppressed and powerless people being cast into the future.

2Timothy 3:12-In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

God never says the world will get better, but that things will wax worse and worse...right will become wrong, and wrong will become right. Believing that there is a solution for having a better world, will only lead to us accepting the antichrist...who will have the right answers to please men, and that's why he will be so deceptive. We are here to rescue a few from the world, but know that we can never change the world. God says everything here is coming to nothing, so we need to be about the Lord's business of winning souls.

Yes. I do not think alot of people understand this statement literally.

God never says the world will get better, but that things will wax worse and worse...right will become wrong, and wrong will become right.

Right. And Paul says that in the last days perilous times (Gk. chalepos; dangerous, like the demoniacs) will come.

Believing that there is a solution for having a better world, will only lead to us accepting the antichrist...who will have the right answers to please men, and that's why he will be so deceptive.

Well, like I have said previously, we have arrived at the point in time where the human race believes that human nature is basically all that there is and human nature is good. We know this cannot be the case (look at the Scriptures and look at human history).

Basically, Christianity is the only solution for a better world. But the majority of the human race is never going to accept that.

Yeah, I wanna hang around with people who think like this.

So what about what she said is incorrect?

It's literal all-right but the problem you seem to have is reading it as an End Times verse describing the future. Instead it is describing the WHOLE Last Days, which began 2000 years ago. Check the context of the whole chapter, and you'll see.

That is a possible interpretation, yes.

Of more importance is the fact that in the OT the "day of the LORD" is described as being "near." E.G., Joel says that "the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision." In Haggai 2 God says that in "a little while" he will shake the heaven/earth/sea/dry land. Psalm 90 states that 1000 years with God is as a day.

Sometimes the end is presented from God's perspective - i.e., soon. Other times it is presented from a fallen perspective - i.e., far away. It depends on what the context is.

So John was not wrong when he said the end was near...he is speaking from God's perspective, which is also used in the Old Testament in prophets like Joel/Haggai.

We can't even fathom how much outside of time God is. A day to Him is like a thousand years to us...pretty amazing. This verse just came to mind...

2 Corinthians 4:17- For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

I believe it will happen very soon. The word says that the anti christ will stand in a temple proclaiming to be christ. They are building a temple in Jerusalem right on top of where they believe the holy of holies was, it is being built next to the dome of the rock. They have already laid two corner stones. The Bible says that it will happen in Jerusalem, and it is not a coincidence that they are building a temple in Jerusalem right now. The word says in the last days, there will be teachers that people will gather up to tell them what their itching ears want to hear. These things are happening right now. There is not anyone in the modern churches that is teaching The Truth. If you think that your beliefs are right, you should test them with the word, to see if they are, or not, otherwise you are just following your own opinions rather than The Truth that saves. They are setting up a one world order, that will bring all the world religions together, and say that we must all love one another and get along for the sake of their peace. But it is not the peace that comes from God, but it is of the world. Christ said: "my kingdom is not of this world." Neither should ours be if we are Christians. "Come out from them, and be separate, be holy as I am holy says the Lord". They are trying to make this world a better place, but to no avail. Remember, they will be saying: "peace and safety, then destruction will suddenly come upon them". "Satan masquerades as an angel of light and his followers as teachers of righteousness". So we must walk by the Spirit, not by the flesh which cannot please God. If we walk by the Spirit God gives discernment to us, so that we can see the truth, from the counterfeit/false. These things are true. They are happening, and we must build ourselves up in the most holy faith, knowing time is short on this earth anyway, preach the gospel, save souls, and make disciples. This is the call for all believers. Stop just talking, because the kingdom of God is not about talk, but of Power from the Spirit of Christ through us.
1 Corinthians 4:19-20
19 But I will come to you very soon, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out not only how these arrogant people are talking, but what power they have. 20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
5 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

I believe that the rapture of the church is the next event in the program of God. Israel is back in the land and hated by the surrounding people. The stage is set. The Millennium could be ushered in before the decade is over! It is also possible that some more time will pass and the days will become...well even darker. Watch the Nation of Israel, its Gods prophetic time clock.

There is no Temple being built in Jerusalem right now. I would like to see your source for this.

I am fully aware of PLANS to build the Temple, but you said it was BEING BUILT. If it is being built, where is it? Where was the cornerstone placed and when did the construction start? Can you show me a picture of the construction in progress?

That cornerstone was presented by the Temple Mount Faithful...but it is not in place.

If they even set foot on the Temple Mount...which is in Muslim control, war will break out, and we can get ready to see $10 a gallon gas...because it will get ugly over there real fast...
