When/Where You Write...

Tariel, your nightmare class story occured to me today when I went in for second semester course registration. I have a once a week three-hour long NIGHT class in literature.

For some reason, I thought of your seven pages of notes.

Yeah...that was a three hour night class those are awful. But unless you have Dr. Hensley, you probably won't have quite the traumatic experience that I did

I write when I have a long stretch of time before me. Like on a sunday, when I don't have anything else to do. Or on a long train ride, when I can take the time to just get lost... and once I get going, that writing time spills into other times.

I mostly write at night, curled up in bed with a notebook and pen. That's when I have time alone with little chance of being interrupted. And it's quiet, just the sound of my hamster playing in her cage.

I like nights, the later the better; no distractions & it's like being curled in your own little cocoon, just the one light glowing & the darkness like a big movie screen to run your own personal movie against. I'm a chronic night owl when I can be.

Sometimes I like writing at night, but I've been too overtired lately to write much at night

I like writing at night and in whatever classes I think are boring. My muse usually strikes during school.

grrrr.....when did my muse get voicemail?? Muse!!! You have nine hours to get back in my head where you belong, and you'd better have some good ideas for that paper tomorrow - understand?

Hahaha....awww, man. My muse both uses and abuses its voicemail on a regular basis. It LIES, too...it promises to call me back ASAP, and then I won't hear from it for a week. Yeah, all right, SURE your phone was dead...

Blargh.

MIne takes extended holidays, it's mail following it round the world bleating sadly that it really needs to get back to work but the word work seems to have a detrimental effect on it.

My muse came back this morning! Just in time, too...my essay is due tomorrow....

I think my grandmother scared it away. We visited her over Thanksgiving, and she's really controlling, and my muse doesn't like that....so I think she ran away. But she came back, so hopefully she'll stay longer than five minutes this time....

By nightfall, I am thinking much more clearly than in the morning, and it is the time when I can take inspiration from anything, because my mind prepares itself for inspiration during the day. I usually retreat to my room where I can listen to various Christian music, allowing my mind to wander and move along with the melodies, and eventually, I will have thought of a scene that I HAVE to write down.

Besides, God only speaks to me at night. What good would it do to speak to me in the morning, when I'm not listening, ready to fall asleep again, and the chances of me forgetting what I was told within 30 minutes are about 9/10?
