When Pain Rules

When pain rules in the heart of man,
things change.
When pain tears one up inside,
things look differently.
When pain lives deep within,
things change perspective.
When pain rules in the heart of man,
life just doesn't seem as fun.

Happiness doesn't feel so happy,
Joy not so joyful.

Peace doesn't feel so peaceful,
Singing not such relief.

Strength doesn't feel so strong,
Truth not so truthful.

When pain rules the heart of man,
things change.
Except this one thing...
LOVE...

Love feels lovely through pain,
Love changes the way we view our pain.
When we see pain through love...
Pain doesn't seem so painful.

Did you write it while you were depressed or afterwards?

Well...I wrote it during, but I was thinking about how much a particular friend has helped me out a lot by just loving me and supporting me, and I was also thinking of how much God loves us and I knew that the poem could be applicable to heaps of people because we all hurt at some time...there is always a time when things just aren't as fun. We just have to learn to keep pushing through...this is the lesson I am learning at the moment!

It speaks the truth. Powerfully. In spite of the very depths of a seemingly bottomless pit of suffering there is hope. The hope sees us through. Keep on keepin' on.
