  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yup.

Just because you got away with it doesn't in any way negate the law.

Not every country is a member of the UN. Besides, the UN has proven impotent in their dealings with "problem countries".
If the UN has proven impotent at dealing with problem countries, does that mean it's justifiable to ignore UN sanctions with war? If so, how does that differ from me pointing out that my country's law does not catch all criminals, and therefore is somewhat impotent, and if they can't catch me, then what I've done is justified?

As a Christian, I do believe that God is the ultimate Authority. From a social aspect though, you only mans law.
Under what circumstances do you believe God is in favor of killing? When it comes to war and conquering, what factors must be in effect for war and killing to be considered acceptable by God?

The answer to that is too easily misconstrued and I don't believe can be discussed here. That is why I gave a generic example for an answer.
Where can it be discussed?

Many countries do. That is their decision.

Nope. The UN has "tried" to enforce it's laws and have had little effect. That is not a fair comparison to your killikng because that nation has not known of your crime and therefore has nothing to act upon.

Can you describe your beliefs on how curses work? When Noah curses his son, or Elijah curses someone, what happens?

Was it a coincidence in the story that right after he cursed the children, they were mauled by bears?

-Lyn

How curses work and my opinion on such are irrelevant. Unless Elijah was able to control the actions of the bear, how can he be held responsible? Might as well say: the devil made me do it, and use that as a murder defense.

There isn't a thing wrong with self defense. Obviously an attacker would realize in the back of their mind that they could be killed by those who they attack.

I believe that that would have to depend on where you are. In the UK, a criminals chances of attacking an armed victim are between slim and none. So if I were to be attacked, that criminal would not be expecting me to be carrying a gun.

Taking a life is never good... But in the defense of one's nation, or family, or of oneself - where it is act or die, then and only then, is taking a life regretably necessary.

Killing cannot be justified, and in the end, you pay the price - mentally, morally, and spiritually. Ask anyone who has killed and they will tell you the toll is high. Even when you think it was justified at the moment, it eats at you that you just took someone's son, or father, or husband, or brother, or uncle, or cousin, or friend. You caused a lot of people to suffer because of your action, and it cannot be made better. The difference, if you failed to act, how many family, friends, or comrades would have died and could you have lived with that pain. See, killing cannot be justified and you cannot escape the pain of your actions either way.

True, hopefully if necessary, you can carry pepper spray or a mild taser though.

Both of which can also be fatal.

Of course if you go overboard. At least they aren't as immediately fatal as a gunshot (if target is hit appropriately). Though they are fatal in rare occurances such as a person with a heart condition or maybe an allergic reaction to the pepper spray.
