  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

When does God consider you married?

My question is when do you all think God considers two people married in His eyes? I know that he says sex is wrong until the two people show their love and commitment for each other in His name, which is considered marriage. I personally don't believe two people have to have a formal marriage ceremony and papers to be married in Gods eyes. What do you all believe?

I think there is legal marriage, then a sacramental marriage, a combining of two persons as one flesh, which can not be undone, "until death do you part".

I think that God recognizes a marriage when all legal procedures have been followed. Even with the Jews, you had to be legally married to have sex. Mary and Joseph were only engaged, and yet legally he would have had to divorce her had they separated at that point. Thus, get married to have the relationship blessed!

As Christians, we are suppoesd to obey the law of the land, unless it goes against one of God's laws (like if it is legal to kill someone). So, if you think you are married under God's eyes, but have not yet been married legally, you are not married. Why? Because you have not followed the law of your land. Whether the custom marriage be in a courthouse, in front of a priest, or shaking two coconuts together under a tree, you should follow the law of the land (hence the reason why, although people drink in the Bible, it is still considered a sin to drink if you are under the age of 21 in the USA). Does that make sense? 'Have fun and bu-bye
