Dear friends,

I was shocked to see the attack on Christians published in The Huffington Post.

Is it just me or are atheists becoming more angry and hateful in their attacks. And how do we as Christians respond?

By turning the other cheek, and being there to give an account as to why You believe in Jesus.. Do not confuse this command with Giving them an answer that will satisfactory explain away all of there questions.. Just use what you have been given.

Wow. Did you read the original post by Charlotte Allen? That was one of the most hateful op-eds I've ever read, far worse than anything in the Huffington Post article you posted. I think Landon Ross was rather restrained considering the condescending, angry, hateful, terribly vicious words she wrote. Do you think atheists should be compared to terrorists? Do you think it's ethical to misquote and misrepresent atheist writings? She was horrible. I think atheists will stop being angry and hateful in their attacks when Christians like Ms. Allen stop being angry, hateful, vicious, condescending, offensive, mean, and horribly vile in their attacks.

Once you have accepted Jesus, you become like him with a calm peaceful attitude towards everyone Christian or non-Christian. Athiests will never convert if a Christian uses the wrong attitude towards them. We know it's not Christian to use weapons to make the enemy change their minds. If words of peace cannot change their minds then technology must be developed to 'tranquilize' - advanced chemical weapon that disables the leg and arm muscles - them without killing them since killing is against God's Ten Commandments. I can also understand why all Christians cannot be rich in money terms but they can be rich with God's wisdom that makes us powerful survivors even if we don't like the jobs we do on Earth. If everyone became rich there would be economic chaos if airport and hotel services didn't exist for tourism. Services for vehicle and electrical appliance repairs non-existent would cause street violent protests because we would be too rich to be that poor statistic.

What's the problem? This article is about someone who was upset by what someone else wrote. But they responded clearly, explaining exactly WHY they were angry. This isn't a mindless attack on someone, the author has spelled out their position very clearly. So what is the problem with it?

I wonder how many people who posted here have actually read the article? This isn't offensive at all. The writer of this piece was refuting (rather sternly I'll admit) a woman who has made a biased, ill informed, and aggressive attack on atheism.

I'm just really confused as to how anyone can see this as a direct, angry attack on Christianity. Maybe atheists seem angry all the time because stuff like this is always being written against us, because a militant Muslim blows up a building, a militant christian shoots his roommate because he's an atheist, and people still have the gall to call atheists who speak their minds militant? Maybe, just maybe that's why we can get a little bit angry, hmmm?

A little disclaimer before I depart, as I wouldn't want to offend anyone. I don't think that most Christians or Muslims are this way, I have friends in both categories. I'm just pointing out that people call angry atheists "militant" when militants of other categories do far worse, wait 'till an atheist kills a religious person on religious grounds, then call him militant. Until then, stop using that term.

[edit] before anyone says it, I realize no one called anyone militant on this thread. I'm giving one of a few reasons why atheists might be angry.
