  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't care if they believe in the invisible pink unicorn. God is omniscient and therefore hears all prayer.

Not according to the Bible. But if you don't believe the Bible is true, I guess you can believe whatever you like. And I'm not saying that in a sarcastic way.

and now we sit back, grab our popcorn, get intensified with expectations of great battle and watch a perfectly good thread that asked a perfectly simple question turn into theological debate.

*popcorn is all ready...battle may begin*

Nah...I am hoping that that won't happen. :prayer:

I would be praying as they offered their prayers...

that it is acceptable in His sight
that it is because of the genuine love and care that they would even think to pray for me, for which I am grateful.
that they are blessed to be in His Presence.
that they come to know Him better.

Muslims and Jews worship the same God we do, so that is easy.

A lot of deists/etc are heavily influenced by Christianity, I am not sure what hindu's etc do.

JM

Well I know that Muslims and Jews certainly don't worship the same God I worship. Jesus is my God.

Jesus said that He was the God that the Jews worship.

Muslims say they worship the same God the Jews worship...

JM

they can say it all they want.. doesn't make it true. If it were true then there wouldn't be the huge issue of persecution against Christians in Muslim countries because hey... its all the same right?

I can also say that my best friend is an 8 foot tall invisible rabbit name Harvey... doesn't make it true no matter how sincere I am.

Not trying to start a debate, but a few things should be made clear:

1. Muslims do not worship the same God as Christians do. That's a very common misconception, but it's not true. Islam says God doesn't live in Heaven but exists everywhere at once and has no form, man wasn't made in His likeness, we should 'submit' to God rather than love Him, that Heaven is attained through works rather than faith, and that sins are paid for by punishment and even temporary time in Hell. Islam STEMMED from the same roots as Christianity, but they don't believe the same things about God at all.

Thanks for the precision. I was about to say about the same. We don't have the god of the Muslims, we have the true God. They are different, they don't have the same character, they cannot be the same God!

The same about people saying it all goes to the same God. It doesn't. Of course our God knows the sentiments of all the people, but it isn't as if one of his children was praying.

Anyway, as most of you, i wouldn't care much if a friend of mine wanted to pray for me. I'd just say thanks, i'll pray for you too (and my God is real!).

But in fact most of the people being atheistic, i'd be the only one praying for all anyway... as ever...

You know that we have persecuted them too, right?

And in the past, there were times when Jews and Christians were treated better than members of other religions in Muslim countries.

i think you missed my point... if its all the same, why does anyone feel the need to persecute? Intellectually and officially they may hold to this PC ideal that we worship the same G/god but on some level they *know* thats not true.

Yeah, it is political correctness and its ridiculous really, why can't religions accept that they are different from one another and leave it at that? People can still get along when there are differences as long as they are respectful.....so resorting to lying by saying that all religions are similar to create social cohesion is not necessary.

I'm not offended when that happens, its their way of showing they care. And I know I'm covered by the blood of the Lamb so no demonic entity can actually have any say over my life anyhow with my God's say-so.

This right here, mkay.

Look at the history of Islam, and Christianities history.

It is like the difference between Catholics and Protestants, you will find some saying that the other side aren't really Christian, but most admit to being the same. Christianity is just a sect of Judaism, I mean, look at our langauge (We are the Spiritual Israel, we are going home to Zion, etc). In fact, initially they mostly worshiped in synogogues.

Good muslims think that Christ turns water into wine and walked on water and fed the 5000/etc. There are many Christians who don't even think that!

Muhammed or whatever, just said that he was the final prophet or something, and said that Christians got things a bit wrong and Christ was a prophet and not the son of God. Now, I agree that muhammed was wrong, but he was building from Jewish/Christian background (And mixed it with Arabian mysticism).

It has nothing to do with PC. It has everything to do with history and development.
