Remember that Ruth had already been married for 10 years to Elimelech and was childless that whole time before she met Boaz. The book never gave a specific age on either of them.I would probably have to agree as well. Trying to marry anyone that is old enough to be your dad usually isn't a good idea. Yea, when Ruth married Boaz it looked to turn out alright, but circumstances in those days aren't the same they are today, and it doesn't mean the marriage was very fulfilling, but at least it appears that it wasn't harmful to either of them. People also married multiple wives in those days too, which is something that Jesus later denounced as something that shouldn't have happened.

As a guy, sure I can understand having a hot young thing on his arm, but people in the 34 age range are hot, just like people in our age range are hot!I don't support large age gaps in any situation. Even if the marriage "works out" I still don't support it
I think your friend has issues and the 34 year old guy wants a hot young thing on his arm. Can't really blame him there, but it screams to me that his priorities are in the wrong place.

I guess there's some things I'll never understand.
