Pretty indifferent to them. They mostly make sports games, I find. And all sports games are the same. Not much creativity in those. Not impressed.

I don't really care about sports games, but EA makes games like Command and Conquer Generals too.

Do you care about any of EA's games? I happen to like a lot of them. They are very well done.

EA are starting to dominate the gaming market; just recently they bought approx. 20% of Ubisoft (the guys who make Splinter Cell, Far Cry and Ghost Recon). They have a reputation of buying out other companies (Westwood for example).

Most EA games are never really good imo, they're not bad, but they're often just rushed and second rate imo. They are leading in the sports genre, but they should keep their hands off the rest. (THANK YOU FOR BUYING SOLE RIGHTS TO LOTR MOVIE BASED GAMES AND RUINING THEM!!!!!!)

Theres more to EA than sports games...

Battlefield 1942, vietnam, Battlefield 2, Medal of Honor, LOTR:battle for Middle Earth are all EA titles too. And a fine job EA is doing.

And like sports games, historically "inspired" war games are all the same. Still not impressed.

Battle for Middle Earth is pretty good. Well balanced, fun. The only major complaint I have is with the online connection system they set up. My goodness, I've never seen so many attempts at connecting simple 2-8 player games fail. They have some kind of aversion to firewalls in their connection protocols, and some other hang-ups too. The game barely ever connects! If one person has even the slightest setting wrong in their internet connection, *poof*, no game connection for everybody on that try.

Sorry, it's really irritating.

From what I've played of EA, most of their games seem super-flashy with the latest big movie license or whatnot, and then once you get past the exciting intro movie, you find out it doesn't really have great gameplay.

I obviously haven't played all their games, but thats from what I have played.

EA is not a game company, they were a game company but since then they have evolved into a corporate monster that is feeding on the wallets of people unable to have seen the change. They crank out the same titles year after year with minor upgrades the same way Microsoft does with Windows but with a much more alarming frequency. Every year there will be a "new" Madden, Live, NBA/NFL Street and at least one lisenced game. The problem is these games do nothing new yet everyone keeps buying the upgrades. They are not creators or innovators of anything worthwhile beyond their initial offereings on certain systems and I see no benefit of having them gain even more market share by buying out smaller developers. Soon the entire industry from a game making standpoint will be dominated by enormous corporate entities who are more focused on hitting a profit target in the least amount of time with the least cost than making the best game. If that happens the quality will degrade.

To be fair, GameOfDeath, the updated sports games are basically to keep up with rules and team changes. That's why people buy them. And they wouldn't be making these games if no one was buying them, so it's basically our fault for buying mediocre games.
