what is your race?

If you are a race that is not listed in the poll, then you can share it in a comment of this thread. I can re-edit the poll to include your race.

Small note: The number of "Other" may be an overestimate in the future, as I may re-edit the poll.

If anyone is racist in this thread, do not reply to their racism. Just put the person on your Ignore list, which should hide all their posts and content on the website.

I don't know how to answer this one. At times I check off "White/Caucasian" on forms because I am white-passing, but my dad is brown. If the form offers an "Other" sometimes I choose that, because I never can truly decide which one I should check off. The latter feels more honest of me, but at the same time, no one would think I'm not white, by looking at me.

Human. Does it really matter? Seems racist.

It's not necessarily racist to ask what race people are - maybe the OP is bored (which is really easy to feel on the internet). I can't speak for him though.

Thinking about my own country if you told a Maori their race/ethnicity didn't matter I bet they would be quite offended.

Telling someone their race doesn't matter can actually be a positive statement; it just depends on the context.

Which people are considered Asian? I don't think the census people got it right. Used to be that Jacob/Israel was called West Asian.

And what if you're more than one race? Because, who isn't, right?
I'd add a "both a and b" sort of category.

Your dad is "brown" meaning? Brown is one of the most ambiguous terms there is because someone from India has nothing in common with Latin America or Arab, or Biracial (Black/White), but they are all considered "brown".

Ah. Pakistan is a South Asian country, West of India. It is kind of Middle Eastern and kind of Indian (though I think it was once part of the Indian subcontinen). It’s kind of complicated.

As for my race, I am white/Caucasian American with a mix of lot of things: English, Italian, French, Dutch, Swedish, German, Scottish, Welsh, Irish.

I don’t usually care for ‘what country were your great great great great grand ancestors from’, to me it's an irrelevant question for most of us who are so far removed from it it doesn't matter so how can we claim to be tied to them at all when we haven't even stepped foot over there, & there's been so much mixing it's become even less relevant & gets less & less relevant every generation, but lately I've been taking an interest in it b/c I've been curious about what their religious background or personalities may've been & how would that have eventually "got" to me. I’ve been thinking of the concept of all of us having ‘been in’ Adam at one point, & how that concept extends from generation to generation. I have Dutch, Polish, & German heritage

I hate this question.

I don't give a flying fanny pack what "race" (I hate that word) someone is. All humans are part of the same race. In fact, I would prefer NOT to know what "race" people are on this forum.

I'm trying to think of the Biblical term that describe different people groups. I don't think it's race. I think race is used to describe all of mankind. Usually when Bible refers to different people groups it does based on geography or the patriarch & they're children of that patriarch

There's nothing wrong with the OP and the thread is old. Diversity brings different perspectives, experiences and cultures which are opportunities for sharing.

I chose other since there's no option for a bi or multi racial person. I have Black, French and English ancestry.

I'm South East Asian. However AI facial recognition thinks I'm a "human mongrel" having facial features of all ethnic groups in similar proportions except for Western European (Caucasians in UK, USA, and Canada).

But did include Caucasians native to Central Europe like Germany, and Eastern Europeans. We do have many relatives on both mother and Father's side who looks German and Eastern European, only with dark hair and darker skin. So I think the AI is accurate, only disregarding skin color to analyze ethnicity. One cousin did have fair skin and looked native Russian.
