What's up with video game characters heads?

I'm serious. It seems that in every game I've recently played they got the whole head and neck thing wrong.

The heads look fine, I guess. So do the bodies... But they're just... Well, two different sorts of fine that don't work together right.

There is a lot more detail in faces and only so much you can do with polygons when you're limited by the power of the machines rendering them.

I don't know why and this is waaaaay off topic but his voice just makes me quiver :3 A girl could fall for him in his evil cape :3

On the neck/head I am not sure, it may be like Nio said and due to all the textures. I know that the mods I use for Fallout New Vegas enhance the graphics although I am not as limited to the consoles. Some of them even enhance how they move/look etc. If I can frap a video I'll post what I mean.

maybe its just an uncanny vally thing

i cant post a linck yet but the idea is that htings that look a litle human can be aceptible and for a while the closer you get to human the better you acept it

untill you get to a point wher somehting looks so human that the difences in it strike you as very odd or disturbing
