I'm in North Dakota. Do you really want to know?
It is Chilly. Currently 19F
So far the coldest we had this winter was 22 below zero Fahrenheit one day last week
the winters here can get quite cold.
Please keep the People on Pine ridge Reservation in Your Prayers. Many there do not have Electricity and will run out of propane before winter ends. Every year many freeze to death on the Rez. For those who do not know about Pine Ridge it is the poorest area in the Western Hemisphere. A standard of living poorer then Haiti. Unemployment of over 85%. It is hard to believe these conditions exist in the middle of the wealthiest nation on earth.
Pine Ridge had it's first Blizzard of the year back in October and over 3.5 feet of snow buried the Rez. the snow is now gone but the damage remains. There will be many more blizzards before Spring reaches the Rez in late May.
Welcome WoodrowX2.
Wow that is cold! Is Pine Ridge in North Dakota? I'm amazed such conditions exist in the western world.for the people there.
Excellent postPine Ridge is in South Dakota, right next to Mount Rushmore which used to be part of Pine ridge until it was annexed by the government in 1939 to make the monument and Custer Park. Which was quite an insult to the Oglala and Hunkpapa Lakotah Sioux. It is the Birth site of Both Chief Tȟatȟaŋka Iyotȟaŋka (Sitting Bull) and Chief Tashunca-uitco (Called Crazy Horse by the white man but actually means "His horse is crazy")
The Lakotah are the only Tribe that has never surrendered and according to the traty of Laramie, The Rez should be most of South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming and Montana, but the government constantly kept annexing the land until only an area about the size of Connecticut remains as Pine Ridge.
Leaving a sad legacy and a forgotten people.
