81F / 27C right now at nearly 1 AM in the morning. There's supposed to be a 30% chance of rain.

Supposed to be 14C (Manchester area) tonight. A bit chilly; have put the heating on a few moments. I hate doing this in August but the front of the house has single glazing!!

We got some rain--- about .3", if the weatherbug is right. Right now, 76F, going down to 62F, 30% chance of rain overnight. 75F and partly sunny tomorrow.

Bright and sunny here, if, even a little breezy..... it is, good weather

Unable to post temps.....
as we have had new [composite] doors fitted today at the front and back
so I took down thermometers and ornaments [to prevent damage]

We have a MESS, in the bathroom
where workers have removed tiling in preparation for works in there in the coming days
New Electric Shower, basin, wc closet, bath, tiling and non-slip flooring

Until some days after completion
~probably, more than a week away Mary and I will have-to suffice
with strip washing at the bathroom basin as our bath is 'out of order' until sealing has cured

Shirley will know, EXACTLY 'where we find ourselves at this time [?]

Still, as they say...." Only DIRTY PEOPLE WASH" [themselves]

Obviously, we, will soon have this behind us... we can be PATIENT




Outside, during the coming two weeks, we will have soffits, fascia and rainwater goods replaced
"Possibly Tomorrow" we have been told


I will post photos [before and after] later

It is a part of a partial regeneration program our area is undergoing
~to local authority [council] housing

So, as you can imagine, we pretty much have people coming and going
on most days of the week [WEEKENDS, we get some peace and quiet \o/ ]

We have just had our phone reconnected, after four hours of downtime
due to the cable having to be placed behind the new doorframe
Anyway, we are online again, now

The email notifications were down, but it appears that they have been fixed as of today.

We had a couple of nice rains this week. Thank you Lord. It's cooler here than normal for this time of year - 85F / 29C. It feels good and we're enjoying it.

Sounds silly, but I don't know what the weather's done! I think it's rained here - I didn't put the washing out so I must have had a reason . I've spent all day studying, some of it with the light on and curtains drawn because it was so dark. Reasonably mild though.

Hope your building work has been completed okay Dave.

Not yet Sue, we have another ten days or so to go

Thing is, that they are doing every house around us [except for owner occupieds ?]
with bits and pieces, in each house, taking place, more or less haphazardly
We do, have a schedule... but, that, is varied according to circumstances
that were not included when planning took place

Rose, our next door neighbour [owns her home]
and refused to let them erect scaffolding in her garden
to allow them to complete our roofline works UNLESS they did her's also
They want to charge her hundreds of pounds for her roof...
so she flat out refuses, to give them access

They are rescheduling our works, until, they can bring in another type of scaffolding
which will allow them safe-access to our roof
The porch outside our front door, makes use of their present scaffolding impossible
because it needs to be 'bridged'


We will be without our bath, for, at least a week... NIGHTMARE!!

This has been a bit of an interesting summer. It seems cooler than usual, with a bit more rain than usual. I guess I'm a bit worried now as we need a healthy 6" of rain so we don't have a draught in December/January time period
