I'm praying all of the wild fruit trees, berries, and hazelnuts here hold off on blooming until later. Last years crop got bit by frost and wasn't very good.

Snow is melting slowly, as we are in the teens at night, so that is good.

Here in the UK the Beast From the East (as the Siberian snowfall across Europe has been named) met Storm Emma from the South. The result was tempestuous and blizzards have swept across the country. It happened on a day when I ventured out and found myself clutching a drainpipe at one point as I couldn't stand against the wind.

We've had it fairly easy compared to some parts of the country though; the snow here, which I guess was about 6 inches deep, has melted a bit and the roads seem passable. In other places people have been stuck in trains and on motorways overnight, snow has drifted to 6 foot or so and 20 minutes of a 30-minute News programme was devoted to reports of the weather. (That's a lot even for us!) There were quite a few accidents unfortunately, but also heart-warming stories of rescue and help.
