Plenty of steady rain for the whole country today, which has been badly needed in some areas.

Sunny, but with lots of snow on the ground.

Today has been alternate snowfalls and sunny spells, the latter drying the ground so that there was no sign of snow on the roads or paths (unlike the east side of the UK), but it remained on the garden. The pattern has continued into the evening except that the snow has now settled and looks beautiful. At midnight the stars are clear in the sky, the moon is golden and the snow sparkling. I love it!

However I know that for some (with frozen pipes, draughty homes, power cuts etc. - which I've had on occasions) it is not good, and for the homeless it is particularly difficult.

The past couple of days it has been unseasonably warm --- yesterday it was sunny and in the sixties fahrenheit. Today it's in the fifties and raining.

Today has had the same alternating pattern as yesterday: heavy snowfalls and sunny spells but no snowmelt. It's probably a couple of inches thick now. Looks lovely, but has covered the road and pavements so it's necessary to take care as temps are apparently below freezing tonight. (We're just on the edge of the amber alert area, but further north in Scotland there is red alert. Apparently there is no public transport in Glasgow at all.)

Haven't posted mine here for a while. We are finally out of the 20 below F pattern, and have been enjoying daytime temps above freezing the last couple of days. The price we paid for the warmer weather is we have had about 20 inches of snow in the past week and a half. More snow on the way this weekend and I am running out of room to pile it.

It's 48F right now, and the forecast high for today is supposed to be 50F. Things are really very pleasant - even with some rain that wasn't on the agenda.

Lots of wind...cold East wind...and snow. I am all tucked up with a coffee...glad I don't have to go out. The postman had grips fastened to his boots...very effective.

Sunny and the snow is sliding off my metal roof like an avalanche. I did take a nice walk earlier.

Praise the Lord, signs of spring today!
For the fourth day in a row we are above freezing and for the first time, since before Christmas, I can see small parts of my actual driveway. It has been hardpacked snow and ice since.
The little things that we delight in.
I also see two of my apple trees are budding already, they will surely get frozen off later, but it was a joy to see. Looked strange with over two feet of snow by the trunk.

I almost feel guilty telling you that it's 42F at midnight and expected to get up to 54F by noon. We're having gorgeous days but the weatherman says there will be severe weather soon because of the higher temperatures.

My weeping cherry (ornamental) often blooms right before a frost.

Yes, we've gone up to fifties and even 60F one day. And I'm in the north!
