Since posting here last we've had some colder weather with a touch of snow, and then it turned mild on Saturday. Tonight it's supposed to be in 50s F (very high for UK January). It has rained though.

I hope everyone in the eastern part of the States has got through the storm without too much disruption. I haven't had the news on today, but heard yesterday that New York was shut down. It seems almost unbelievable. I hope there isn't flooding when the snow melts. :prayer:

Today was a lovely mild and bright day

The funeral went ahead on schedule
There were many people there that I had never met (not once)
The chapel pews were filled and many had to stand at the back and down the left hand side wall
It was a lovely service and the vicar read out a lovely obituary of Mary's life
~gleaned previously from a family-meeting, where we all discussed, what we liked about Mary
what she was like as a person, how many had had the pleasure of meeting this very sociable and caring person
I was engaged to that lady... I wonder if they do marriage in heaven

I brought home 'the heart' wreath.... to save it from 'recycling' (for a while anyway)
I have laid it on the lawn, next to 'Rolo and Penny'
She loved all of her animals
The vicar called her "a proper Mary Doolittle" :)

Goodnight all

dave

Some photos (Before and After)
that I had printed to canvas for the funeral

I said she was 'a good woman' and, very plainly
MANY OTHERS also thought very-highly of her

Thank you....we fared well way up north...not even a flake.
South of us fared much worse....deaths and injuries...still digging out.
We have been in their shoes but were spared THIS TIME ;)
Some flooding could be an issue because it will be unseasonably mild this week with some rain coming.
With all that snow and frozen ground....there is nowhere for it to go.
That was us last year; I feel for them:pray:.

Mixed Bag 'mainly-wet and blustery'

Frozen rainfall(drizzle) earlier, too-small to be called hail
given longer to fall, we might have called it 'sleet'

Temp's are now at 5.C
up two degrees from this morning
Rain falling presently

Dear Dave. Please accept my heart felt condolence for the loss of your Mary. May God bless you.

The weather here is very nice with partly cloudy skies and temp in the upper 60's.

I'm glad you were spared the storm Gail, but feel for those further south and hope that they are getting back to normal. So sad when there is loss of life.

It was windy earlier: the edges of the storm which headed up to Scotland I think. Temps now around 5C; (low 40s F).

Yes it was 'quite windy' as it roared by here
We had some frozen rain (drizzle)
had it fallen any farther we might have seen sleet, it was much 'too small' to be called hail

Thank you Zippy2 Sis'

My 'loss', pales into utter-insignificance
when compared-with
Mary's determination, these past 2+ years

To then receive, a single, stroke in the brain
and to leave this world, some 7-8 hours later
without having 'given' any-sign, of being 'aware'
was as gentle 'a-release' as I can possibly imagine

Mary 'deserved' to go peacefully
just as I prayed she would, only minutes before she passed

So, you see, not a man beset by sorrow and anguish ~'in-grief'
but one, who is, just so very-happy
that Mary did not have-to begin the next course of chemo
(due, to-start, the following week)

That, she doesn't have-to rely upon me
to lift her onto the toilet and off again afterwards
and set to rights any 'mishaps'
Such a dependance, really affronted her-dignity
I hope my insistence, that we were "IN THIS, TOGETHER"
gave-her some real support

Mary knew, as we all did (right from the get-go)
that Mary's treatment would be 'palliative' (Not CURATIVE)

She gave the impression, she would 'keep going'
and that, thankfully \o/ was not her decision to make \o/
:amen:
I have no-trouble 'sleeping' although I am become very-much a Night-Owl
Everything changes!

I am eating and, so are our pets
Whenever that hole that Mary left-behind 'opens'
I stuff 'good-memories' into that gap
Well, she took a piece of me with her _Lovely lady

Mary (Baker nee: McAlinden) 12.23.1939 - 01.09.2016
Until we meet again \o/ \o/ \o/
