Death toll in Haiti up to about 800, and what do we have? 2?, that's the last I heard anyway, and one of those was a heart attack they couldn't get to, so she may have died anyway.

No deaths are good, but we have it so good here compared to other places. Haiti was hit harder, but still, even with a same hit, we are likely to come out much better in that regard.

So far, I lost internet for about an hour and the power clicked off and right back on, so virtually no problems. I almost feel guilty.

You're right Brother. Many of the people in Haiti live in poverty and probably had no place to go or way to get there. We all have much to give thanks for.

Will you take a look at this....:)

One of the main concerns for me with these storms is the loss of air conditioning...otherwise loss of power or anything else, no real problem. Looks like even that would not have been a problem this time around. Much more of this weather and the water is too cool for hurricanes. This one has the be a record for late season storms.

So sad about Haiti. Continued prayers for them. :groupray: Thanks for keeping us posted about Florida, Kenny'sID; I'm glad the weather is better for you now.

It has been a fairly mild autumn day here; had a lovely walk this evening with leaves crunching under my feet - although there are still many on the trees - and a slight breeze.

today was very cool and a bit breezy.
it was a day of detours, blocked-off traffic lanes, leaning telphone poles, and twisted, damaged bridge railings.
of pretty much hunkering down until repairs could be finished so things could get back to normal after the hurricane,
and of waiting for rivers to crest and subside.
my kitchen stove lost power twice, and my internet flickered, but otherwise I'm ok.
i planned well and stocked up for a week.
better to have it and not need it, than the reverse.
i expect that my lawn and bushes will grow like mad now.

It's sunny and 87F today here in Central Oklahoma - with a nice breeze of 17mph. Our home owner's association is planting a lot more flowers throughout the neighborhood.

Yes it was. But the southern yellow pine, 150 years ago, were 6-10 feet thick. I have seen some pictures of the logs loaded on a rail flat car where only one per car with a man standing at the butt end was only 1/2 as tall as the log was. Yes it was a big tree.

Glad you're okay pdudgeon, and hope things get back to normal for your neighbourhood soon. :)

In the 50s F here, which is quite comfortable for the time of year. Some rain, but also drier weather with a little breeze.
