I will pray...

Thanks, joy, I appreciate it.

Latest is it will touch the coast, 80 or so mi south of me, then bounce off and pass a further position from me than before. But that's the thing about these things, they can do anything and one can't feel safe until they pass, and even then, although unlikely, they have turned around and come back. If it doesn't bounce off, and keeps going inland, the probability of it running right over me is very good.

Back to getting ready.

Mathew 4 is intense...the cat 4 hurricane that is, and it's coming my way.

Present projected path puts the eye about 70mi east of me on Friday afternoon. If that thing turns even slightly west, and it's most likely not going to do just what they say, things could get scary.

Unlike the one a month or so ago, this one means business. :(

Prayers for the Fl East coast at this point, and don't forget those it just ran over.

I've been praying for those who have and will be effected by this huge storm. I'll be praying that it goes back out to sea and fades away.

It's 91F here today in Central Oklahoma. We had numerous tornadoes last night and give thanks that none of them got very close to us.

Thanks, Mag, and glad you weren't affected by the storms.

Seems there is some kind of natural disaster looming no matter where we are. Few hurricanes on the W. coast but earthquakes & mudslides, no hurricanes of any significance very far inland, but tornado's bad storms. In the north, killer cold.

Got me wondering if there is a statistically safest place in the US to live?

I've lived in Oklahoma for my entire life, and it's famous for tornadoes. I've been real close to them only several times in 67 years. Honestly, I'm more afraid of natural disasters that can effect large areas (i.e. hurricanes, earthquakes). I like the cost of living here and the friendly people, so I'll stay.

We get the killer tornado's but they're pretty rare, and probably nothing like you get...no earthquakes. But yeah, these giant tornado's, so to speak, that cover so much area, are scary.

Thanks, MW. :)

Not much, if any real change in the projected path since my last post on it. Just hope it makes the expected turn. actually I hope it doesn't brush land at all for the sake of everyone.

Last I heard, 100 dead in Haiti, and I saw a report from a plane mentioning there were about 1% of the houses left standing in a certain area there. Not so bad for me but there is also a nor'easter that's dumping a lot of rain in our area, not even associated with the Mathew, so flooding could be unimaginable for some. I'm high and dry.

I keep hearing terms like "historical", "not since modern records have been kept", "retiring the name "Mathew" so it's never used again", "a model for disaster management training", and "like never before". :(

So, let's ramp that prayer up a notch or two. :)

I'll try, but my prayers are top shelf and full speed. But I'll try.

Another blue bird day. 67 early, and 91 mid afternoon and a little wind, no clouds just a very nice day. Gonna miss these warm days.

Latest path puts it 50 to 75 mi closer to the coast than projected yesterday, and still a category 4, when last report had it diminished to a 3.

Death toll in Haiti has risen from the 100 I mentioned earlier to 331, as they continue to dig them out or the rubble.

Not good.

Continuing to pray for you ones over there, Kenny. We saw a fair bit on the news today. It showed the cars slowly moving out and petrol stations which have run out of gas here and there. I take it you're staying put where you are, Kenny? May God keep you and yours safe.

I've been listening to the news and trying to keep up with Mathew and what it's doing. This has been a matter of prayer and will continue to be. I was very sad to hear that the death toll is over 300 and may continue to rise as they find the dead. It's very sad that some of the hardest hit are poor and had very little before the storm. I saw video of what is left of many tiny homes in Haiti. May God be with those who have lost loved ones. I'd also ask everyone to pray for those involved in rescue efforts and providing necessitities of life for survivors.

Of all things to happen, my PC was dead this morning, I have spares but I'm just not comfortable without the big one. Anyway, fixed that, checked the situation, and all is about as expected thus far. I'm staying put and "should" be fine. Just happy I still have power.

Thanks for the prayer, Joy. :)

Thanks, Mag..yes, the devastation was terrible and I guess the reason the poor were hurt so badly, is because they were poor and the quality of their homes. But in reality, I guess the best of structures can't hold up to power like this.

Praying for all affected here too.

The storm surge (top video at link...the live one) has now exceeded Dora, is the second worse in Jax' history, and the storm isn't even really upon us yet. I went through the eye of Dora back in 64 when I lived in Jacksonville, the only direct hit I've ever experienced.

It was bright and dry this morning and then rain returned

I have washing 'done' that has had to stay in the machine for FOUR DAYS
my being UNABLE to hang it out
With temps dropping so-low at-night, I am reluctant to do any drying INDOORS

I truly cannot afford to TURN ON my heating

:prayer:

Pretty close to directly off the coast now, down to a category 2, about 90mi from the center, and breathing a sigh of relief.

It's just not that bad for me at this point and I don't see it getting a whole lot worse.
