Today it is 25C, in Victoria Australia. A beautiful cool breeze, last night there was storms and lightening, all was good here but damage in other places.
We had pouring rain for like half an hour which all ran off, but take any we can get.
Making the most of it, it is so lovely to have the windows and doors open
I had no idea that freezing rain and snow could have such an effect, mnorian. The freezing rain sticks to the branches of the trees--and I'm talking about big trees--200 feet or more; in the fir trees and also the Oak trees. Then the snow sticks to the ice; then another layer of both. It can add up to thousands of lbs in a few hours. The fir trees can come down; but the worst is the big old Oak trees--that everyone loves and try's to save them; especially by their houses and in town; and all along our country roads. Oak trees are especially weak in their massive branches; and they are like iron in there weight.

I had no idea that freezing rain and snow could have such an effect, mnorian. Thanks for letting us know. Between you, in the PNW, and our friends in Australia you seem to be coping with some extreme weather.
Here in the UK it has turned cooler, with a slight frost, but it is dry and very still.

Another beautiful day today. Summer is properly here now.
Oh; I thought; as we are in the middle of our winter; and NZ is in the other hemisphere (southern) that you would be in the middle of your summer; thus all the heat in NZ and OZ.
Or does NZ have more of a colder climate then OZ?
God bless you for that Tom.I pray for the people of Australia every night. I'll pray for more rain for Australia.
39F is our high for today. We've had a mix of moisture.
This morning, I did the short walk up to our local church. It had gone well below freezing overnight and still very chilly this morning. Walking up the
canal to the church, the fog still hadn't lifted. During the service, everyone sat in parts of the pews which were closest to the overhead heaters. I certainly needed that hot cup of coffee at the end before I thought of venturing back outside.
