Athiest here. I just can't understand one thing about Christianty. I know that most Christians want to get to heaven, but, why? Whats the purpose in heaven? What do we do in heaven? Why go there! We spend eternity with no purpose there. Heaven sounds like a different form of hell to me.

Hi there!

Think for a moment how it is in this world with turmoil, hatred, sickness and strife...

Then think about the promise from God concerning heaven...

Re 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

What will we do in heaven?

Serve God in praise, song and service. Each person will sing in heaven's choir according to what they have endured for their Christian (or Jewish) walk. The angels already sing "holy, holy, holy" to the Lord

Re 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

and service....

Re 22:3
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

For those that think the work is over when we die and leave this earth, they are mistaken for as servants of God, we will continue to serve in some capacity.

dear Atheist

There are probably as many different answers to that question as there are Christians.
Consider a poor Christian living in a 3rd world country. Their answer would most likly be much different than a well off Christian living in a prosperous country. As for me, God says when we see him everything will be revealed. Answers to every question you have ever had. God ,like some one else mentioned is not static. He is a creator. Any thing and every thing he does we will be a part of. We beleive that we are created in the image of God but some us have differing points of view concerning this. I believe that every emotion and desire we have are the very same emotion and desire that God has. It is in the spiritual aspect that all men are created equal. The rich man wants the very same thing that the poorman wants, peace, justice, security, love, respect
Even a thief wants justice if someone steals from him. We are given certain physical talents to accomplish these goals. Now freewill comes into play as to how we will use these talents. Will we use them as say a dictator seizing everything for himself, or will we use them as Christ taught us to serve others. On the surface the thought of serving the wellbeing of others at the expense of self seems alittle foolish but just stop and think for a moment. There are six billion people on the planet. now if we all followed what Jesus taught then that would mean instead of hacking and clawing our way through life by ourselves, there would be six billion people who were concerned and looking out for your wellbeing. So which way is better? Mans or God? but most of all we want love. Everybody wants it. And God is love.He is also many other things but one is love. In Heaven you will be bathed in a love so pure, so infinite that there are no human words to explain it because no human mind can comprehend it. We see in the last chapters of revelation {21-22} a glimpse of what is to come but even this glimpse shows us it is not a place designed for people to just sit around and gather dust. And it is a place I want to be. people do change so I hope I see you there to
yours in Christ

Well, since an atheist hasn't experienced worship of God with the Holy Spirit dwelling in them/God's presence in them, etc. it would be hard to picture enjoying all of that. As an atheist, the odds of one of them experiencing the humility of worship may seem foreign, because they tend to be more self-centered (not to say that they don't care for others, but I'm comparing it to putting someone else as above you as we do God).

Atheists are not self centerd. We dont have any belief in any god, but that doesnt mean we care only about ourselves.

From Romans:
11 For God shows no partiality. 12 All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous in God's sight, but the doers of the law who will be justified. 14 When Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, these, though not having the law, are a law to themselves. 15 They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them 16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God, through Jesus Christ, will judge the secret thoughts of all.

It would be the Christian belief, according to the Pauline letters that the one true God is the God of us all. The difference between what is right and what is wrong has been inscribed on the hearts of everybody.
