A mallard made a nest and laid eggs in my front flowerbed! It's about 20" from my small front porch and maybe equal distance from my house! She must have been desparate to choose that location.

The same thing happened in our front yard last spring! A pair of mallards -- we have some that fly over morning and evening and wander through yards -- were messing around in my iris bed under a tree. After a couple days they disappeared but they left three eggs behind. They didn't make a nest though! We figured there was a problem with the eggs or the area was too close to the road. Or mama duck just had an urge!

She can tell your house is quiet. my mom had a quail with 11 eggs in her front yard.
but what’s on my mind? Fighting the flesh. It’s tempting me to believe it. Talk to these people talk to those people. I know I should go to my neighbors again and strike up a conversation. They need the Lord. I’m the only one who will, for them. That should make it overwhelmingly important. But I feel like I’m just going to be rejected.

i have to do it all in one shot, introduce, start a relationship, preach the gospel. Just invite them to church. Does anybody have a better excuse to go and confront them? They will never want to see me again.

Have you spoken to them about church before? Invited them?

What do you mean by having an excuse to go and confront them? :praying:

Deodorant commercials...

We normally mute commercials. But even with that, they're ridiculous. Every other commercial seems to be about deodorant. The "whole body" ones are the worse. Does everyone suddenly smell in all the wrong places?

Three eggs is unusual according to my research. Mine laid 11.

I take it that you and her/her family don't communicate for reasons you've mentioned?

You can google her name to try to see if an obit pops up. Something such as.... Jane Dough, town and state, obituary. Funeral homes, Legacy, newspapers have those things online. If she has a common name you might have to sift through a few pages. Actually you could find a suspected funeral home online or check Legacy.

I'm a genealogist. There is no obituary because she had no home, no husband, no emegency contact. I spoke to several hospitals with no luck, spoke to health department officials in 2 counties, I tried to order a death certificate; they wanted way too much infotmation: social security number, all my personal data, plus a photo of my I. D.. Our brothers don't care. I'm not going to pursue it any further. Immediately afterwards, I learned of someone's suicide. It was a very sad day.

That's very sad on both accounts. :praying:

Thank you, mourningdove. My daughter will go to the out-of-state funeral. Just thinking about it makes me cry.

That's nice that your daughter is able to go.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

This week I started on Fosamax for osteoporosis. Oh, the joys of aging! The past several months I felt like I was living at the doctor's office. Should have taken a pillow with my name on it and left it there. No complaints about my doctor though. She's a keeper.

Anyone else taking Fosamax? Any problems with it?

The deceased was only 21. The parents and maternal grandparents were so touched by my daughter's unexpected appearance. The maternal grandparents both have terminal cancers. They all cried together.

I'm sorry. I'm not taking Fosamax, but I'm on so many meds it seems insane!

Oh my goodness. That poor family is going thru so much.
Your daughter's appearance probably came as a ray of sunshine to them.
When things are bad, it really can mean so much to know that someone cares.

I also have no experience with Fosamax, but hope it proves to be helpful to you!

I'm very proud of my daughter for doing that. I would have gone with her if my health permitted. There were and are difficult situations in my life that practically devastate me, but a child's suicide is worse.

Yes, I can only imagine.

A dear (physically disabled) friend of mine ... her husband committed suicide back in the 1980's.
They had 2 sons; she's remained a widow all these years.
In 2007, one of her sons committed suicide. Shockingly tragic. :disrelieved:

My friend is a woman of strong faith in God.
That's how she got thru those devasting losses ... faith in God.
That's how she's lived all these years with her physical disabiities.
Without faith in God, I honestly don't know how anyone gets thru many things we find ourselves facing in this lifetime.

It was very loving and kind what your daughter did. Many persons cannot deal with these kinds of situations and tend to go 'radio silent' when a tragedy like this occurs. But she went. May God bless her for it.

I wish we knew how to help people who feel so hopeless. God can and does help help those who are relying on Him. Your friend's faith can help others! God bless her.

My friend's faith was very helpful to me, the first time I was widowed.
She was the first person to come to my assistance, when she learned my husband had died.
(We were long-time neighbors, living on the same small street.)

Because she had the experience of being widowed, she was not afraid to approach me.
She knew what to say, she understood what I was going thru.

She was so kind ... she invited me to stay the nites at her house, till I was comfortable spending the nites in my empty house. I stayed with her for about 2 weeks. (And shortly afterwards, I got a precious kitten to keep me company at my house! :hearteyecat: And then, another! :hearteyecat:)

My friend has an outgoing personality, and the joy of the Lord radiates through her. I know she has been supportive thru the years to other women in her church, when they found themselves facing widowhood. She has been, and continues to be, an inspiration to us all.

I think one of the best things we can do when we know persons who are going thru these sad tragedies is to 'be there' for them: to let them know we are 'there' for them. To not forget them in their grief. To not be afraid to talk to them and to keep in touch with them in some way. And of course, to pray for them. Those things have always meant alot to me, when grieving.
