Ha ha, maybe a bit of both. I'm just not as interested in video games in general as I used to be. Sometimes they can feel like a chore to play. A lot if is b/c I sit at a computer all day at work the last thing I want to do is stare at a screen more. Tho I usually end up watching TV/YouTube/DVD's anyways lol.
I do occasionally play in small doses. For example I've been playing an old Wii game the past few weekends.
That is understandable, especially if you played a lot of games in the past. Maybe an outside activity would be good. But if you're going to be inside there are tons of games to play lol.

My friend is begging me to get a Switch.
I'd be interested in:
Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey
Knights of the Old Republic (virtual console or remake, whatever it is, I just want to replay it so bad!!!!)
One of the Pokemon game
Skyrim
Terraria

He'd want me to start w/ Pokemon lol
The Switch has many good games. I feel like it'd be worth it for you to get a Switch even if you take a while to beat games. That's just my biased opinion though lol.

You won't believe what I just found, @Somber. ^_^

Once upon a time in a far away land, a beautiful princess @Quieted was born. She was beloved by her parents King @mojoboy31 and Queen @leothelioness her older brother Prince @Paulie079 and all the subjects in the realm. She grew up to be full of grace, fluent in Latin and mathematics, and possessed a gentle demeanor. Her tenderness and patience won her the admiration of her servants and palace attendants. It was whispered among some at court that Quieted was far more equipped to rule the kingdom than her older brother. Prince Paulie far preferred the hunt and feasts to court politics and affairs of state. He was forever disappointing his father King Mojoboy with the lack of progress he made in his studies and was rumored to be cruel with his subordinates. The King worried about the future of his kingdom. He secretly hoped that Quieted could have a reforming effect on her wayward brother.

Quieted had caught the eye of all the young knights and men at court. One knight in particular @SarahsKnight was so besotted with her. He wrote many ballads in her honor and determined to distinguish himself in battle to win her hand. It seemed that the princess was destined to a happy future and a favorable marriage. Sadly, misfortune would soon befall the princess and the flourishing and tranquil kingdom.

Rumors and strange tales began to circulate in the marketplaces of a fearless and terrifying Giant @YankeeGirl who had recently been sighted a top the cliffs overlooking the kingdom. Several crazed shepherds @CodyFaith @Wayholka @MehGuy wandered into the marketplace shouting and screaming. They gave a bone chilling account of the hideous giant that had snatched several of their sheep and had almost dismembered the unfortunate @MrMoe. In his panic to escape, he had lost his footing and plunged to his death off the steep cliff.
King Mojoboy decreed that no villager or shepherd should venture outside the city walls until an expedition of knights should return with news and details of this Giant. The King along with @SarahsKnight@Toro @TX_Matt and several other knights rode off into the mountains to search for and capture the Giant. He ordered his son to rule the kingdom in his absence. Prince Paulie, determined to be rid of his father, seized the opportunity to gain the crown. He hired mercenaries to ambush his father and his knights. Only @SarahsKnight escaped the ambush alive. He hid himself in the mountains. It was reported to Paulie that all had perished in the ambush. News spread throughout the kingdom that the king and all his knights had been slain by the Giant. Great fear spread throughout the Kingdom. Queen Leo was so heartbroken at the news of the King's death. Overcome with grief she soon passed away. Paulie was crowned king and began his ruthless and cruel reign. He would listen to no reason and had his sister, Princess Quieted, locked away in a tower. Poor Quieted languished in her cell for many years.

The villagers groaned under the heavy taxes and mourned the loss of their beloved King Mojoboy. Hatred and fear of the Giant spread all through the kingdom. Whenever a sheep or cow would go missing the Giant was blamed. Almost all misfortunes that occurred in the kingdom were somehow credited to the Giant. Only one villager @Travelers.Soul did not believe the tales of this cruel giant. She was determined to find out for herself if this legend was true. Travler'sSoul was the daughter of a kind nobleman. She was constantly visiting the sick and poor of the village and bringing them food and medicine. She was good friends with the Abbot @Hawthorne. Her family regularly donated large sums of food and money to the Abbey and Hawthorne made sure it was distributed amongst the poorest villagers. She departed in secrecy for the mountains to search for the Giant.

Quieted was you once, if I recall. ^-^ The only amendment I would make to the story is that I would find more personally honorable ways to win the heart of the good princess than by fighting. I find such methods to be tasteless and befitting only of barbarians with no heart. *puts nose up in the air* :p

What in the world @SarahsKnight lol

A story someone else wrote a long time ago in another thread. Good times. But I had completely forgotten about this particular one until I came across it just now by accident.

Is this only about time or do you not like the video games?

I understand that playing them too often one can get burnt out but they are pretty good in smaller doses. The new generation has me a bit hyped.
I love Pokemon games! Exploring, catching pokemon, battling, it's all so fun.

My favorite so far on Switch was the remake of the original. Maybe it was nostalgia or not having played them in a while. This new one could beat it though. I'm excited to see more of what it'll be like. ^-^

Yeah, I've been slightly underwhelmed at the ones on Switch too. My favorites growing up was Gold and Silver (Gen 2). Gen 3 on the Gameboy advance was pretty good, and the remakes of the originals on Gameboy advance were super good. But thej I never got a DS until I was an adult so I missed a lot of the generations. I got a 3DS with Pokemon Y for Christmas one year, and let me tell ye, Pokemon Y was just like the best Pokemon game ever. I think it was Gen 6? Sun and Moon came out after, and I barely even played Moon for like an hour-- really need to go back and give it a chance.

Sword and Shield (Gen 8) were great, but the story felt so geared towards first time players or young kids, it was super easy in comparison, and your "rival/friend" was just so annoying! Lol, slowed the pace of everything down to force you to watch the horrible animations of them over dramatically pumping their fists and repeated: "Yeah! I'm gonna try my best!" Dialogues over and over and over and over.

I haven't played much of the Diamond and Pearl remakes yet, nor have I gotten very far in Legends of Arceus.

Ugh, yes, Sun & Moon did that & I couldn’t stand it. I had heard Gen 8 toned down the kiddiness & text boxes but apparently not. Makes me less interested. Also yes, Gen 3 is probably my favorite. Plus Gen 5!!!! I played Gen 3 remakes too & yes the dialogue boxes were heavy & dumb but the actual game was still fun. Gen 3 remakes were better able to balance the kiddy factor & funness.

Look if anyone likes Sun & Moon, that’s fine. At the core they’re still Pokemon games & I did like things they did, but ugh, Sun was a chore for me to play. I could rant more about it but I'll just let it go.

TBH tho I recently tried playing HeartGold version & couldn't get into it. IDK. Maybe I just outgrew the video games? I still love the TCG & Go!!

There are so many Pokemon it's hard to keep track of them all. I never even saw all the ones from Sword and Shield.
What!? Sword and Shield has some EXCELLENT Pokemon!

in my opinion, Gen 8's story and text boxes were the weak point of the game, more intrusive than games passed. But it's still a fantastic game, and the most "advanced" Pokemon to date.

I had a hard time getting into the gold and silver remakes because the visuals were so bad in comparison to Y, which I played first. I mean, I felt like the GB Color looked better than the DS remake xD

Sorry, I've been meaning to take a look at those Pokemon ever since they were released but I never got around to it for some reason. I'll probably never be able to remember them all anyway. :muahah:
