  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

True. My daughter doesn't cook. She looks at me or heads out and brings home dinner. ~laughs
I have moments when I love being in the kitchen and others when the thought sends me to bed.

I remember listening to a morning radio show where the host ate a healthy avocado for the first time in his life. He found it disgusting to eat.. and he said that after the show he was going to wash down the healthy taste with an entire Jack's frozen pizza.. lol.

That perfectly sums up my views on diet right now, lol.. although I feel in the next few years I might become a health freak.. lol. I imagine in my 30s.. I won't be able to get away with that kind of food lifestyle anymore.. lol.

It turns out the recipe had changed and instead of organic sugar they'd switched to refined sugar. That's why I was hurting. I'm not used to it. Sweet mercy that was awful. I promised to leave them alone after that. ~grins

Yeah, you' think after the second bout of pain from certain foods that just don't agree with our digestive system we'd catch on to the correlation and instantly turn away from them forever. I mean, when they cause actual physical pain, how do we still find that one particular food worth it? But, sometimes God really has to smack us on the hand pretty hard to get us to stop acting to our own detriment. I mean, it's just food, after all; not even that terribly important, and just one kind of food on top of that. There's plenty else out there that we can find to be palatable that won't end up hurting us, I am sure.

I guess that's what a good Father would do, though. :)

~laughing They're okay but I don't eat them often.

It will catch up with you. I remember being told to stop getting cookies from Whole Foods. I disobeyed. The peanut butter ones were my favorite. But they were out of stock so I grabbed a different flavor. After the second cookie I noticed some discomfort. By the third I was in pain. I started praying and pleading. You'd think I'd stop but no. I reasoned it was the double chocolate chip. So I got the regular ones the next go round.

Instant replay. Now I'm in tears and repenting. I don't know what's wrong but that didn't stop me. I gave in one last time and the agony was immense. I spent half the night crying and begging for forgiveness. The pain in my mouth was relentless. By now I'd learned my lesson. ~lol

That needn't be the case with diet and exercise. The absence of each over time can create problems. Genetics are a factor too. I don't like having my food tampered with so I pay more for better quality non tampered options. And I eat seasonally.

There is an argument for eating according to your genetic type. Weston Price did a study of dental problems in various groups around the globe. He noted striking differences when they adopted an American diet and the increasing malformations of their teeth as a result. Get you a crunchy girl and you won't go wrong. ;-)
Hmm. Sounds like something that would bolster the sales of ancestry.com and other gene mapping companies. I'm not sold

Dieting and exercising will help, but we'll still age. Don't we pretty much peak at age 25?

You're right about eating and genetic types. We're all humans.. but certain populations have different genes and different realities to contend with.

It takes a special kind of humor to consider that. ~laughs

Check out Sally Fallon.
I love learning about peoples successful blog attempts. Thanks!

(Long before your time) But I just checked out old time CFer, StephanieAmber's blog, and it looks like she's doing well for herself these days too. Married to boot!

She's well established in the real food movement. An early voice. Many got their start from reading her. Thanks for sharing the link. Does she still post here?
No, she doesn't. But she'll ever go down as one of the classics in CF history for sure. (In my book, anyway)
