I've got all the Prime Ministers memorized, their years in office, party affiliation, and in many cases whether it was a majority or minority government. I'm too much of a nerd for my own good.

Without building it yourself it's going to be difficult to find a future proof (~3 years) system for a reasonable price. This is the best I can find close to your budget, but you'd still need a monitor which isn't that expensive and a decent gaming mouse, so total it would be around $1750.

Keep in mind, this system is 25% off, so that's an indication of what buying pre-built gets you for the money. It's tough and why I'd recommend building, but it is what it is.

Just made it home to (as usual) clean up after a huge mess the dog made, and apply for that job in Magnolia, AR where I am really wanting to go. Hopefully no one else has applied there and they will consider me solely.

Hard to imagine you could find many lab techs looking for work in a town like that, anyway. So I might very well have been the only one in the past week since it was first posted to apply for it so far.
