Lol Frodo is so blessed to have a friend like Sam

That was one of the things I like about the LOTR movies. Sean Astin (that kid from The Goonies) did a great job playing him, I thought, and he was just a likable character all around.

Way back in my first year of college when the first movie, Fellowship of the Ring, had first come out on video at last (and my LOTR fanboy friend Lantis had claimed to already seen it 10 times), I remember this one night we were all hanging out at the house most of us lived in together down the street from the school, as was custom to do one night a week. Lantis was all "guys, you HAVE to see this movie! I'm bringing it over next time!" so we all sat down to watch the first LOTR movie for the first time ever ... everyone but the guy who'd already seen it ten times in the last six months and was obnoxiously quoting every single line of dialogue for the first ten minutes of the film. ^_^

And at the time we were all pretty indifferent to it, I guess, likely just to counter-balance Lantis' raging enthusiasm for it, and when we got to the ending scenes when two of the heroes had already gotten axed (far as we knew, anyway), and Sam started running out into the water to catch up with Frodo's boat as he determined to go off on his own to Mordor, I was like, "seriously?! He's just going to wander right in and drown like an idiot! Another party member down, and for such a lame reason!" And he almost did.

But looking back on it I would have been disappointed to see Sam die then, or any time later - not for how stupid I would have thought it'd be for him to just keel over from drowning this early on in the trilogy when two other protagonists were already thought to be dead, but because it turned out I really liked his character. ^-^

I don't know how you manage to fill out two more movies though of just Sam and Frodo making their way to Mordor when you could see it from a distance at the end of the first movie. Talk about stretching out a plot. 2/3 of it happened in just the first movie and then it was nothing but battle after battle in the next two. And Frodo and Sam travel at a snail's pace apparently. ^_^

this pot was obviously crafted in hell. it's kind of soothing.

I was about to say I am not sure why you'd think the sounds of the dark underworld would be soothing , but, then I realized you were being sarcastic.

Granted but you become a Drow AKA Dark Elf.

You gotta be careful what you wish for, hun. ;)

Yeah, for real. Drows are awful people from what I know of them. ^_^

Reading that one trilogy about Drizzt Do-Urden from the Forgotten Realms books was proof enough.

.... And I'm not going to lie. I hated it. .... In fact, I hated everything I read from R.A. Salvatore.:thankful:(*bows in apology to fellow fantasy book fans who will likely be outraged at this*)

does someone show more faith when they can't stand on the water and can't even swim but still tries to go? ~shrugs~

I hate you.

haha but seriously drow are terrible people. I learned it from some book I read too. their society is so much worse than many human ones. I favored the books about the assassin artemis entreri more than I favored the drizzt books.

what else do you hate that I like? let me guess, "redwall" are terrible books too right? you probably hated yu yu hakusho. was gundam wing trash or not? you know what I don't want to know grrr. ( i'm joking)

what does everyone think of the site changes that CF made recently? do we need a revolt?

you can change some of them back by going to preferences and then style and pick 2017 CF but there is still no green support thing.

Advil seems to help the best. Im thankful to have found something to ease the pain somewhat. Trying stretches and heating pads too.

Oh man, that film was long.. but I liked it more than the other film.. at least it felt more original... even if it harkened back to the original trilogy more than I'd like.

That Asian character was cute.. IDK.. didn't find it too SJW.. besides a diverse cast.. which isn't really a problem.. the original Star Wars films started ramping up the diversity after the first film.

I don’t want to pay for ancestry membership because it’s too expensive. But I just got to do some research at a library and archive and used their subscription. Today, I just discovered that some family was born in England. ^_^ I was sort of surprised. There was a census from England with the info and I didnt even know that was avaliable to find here in the US.
You may have already looked into it, but perhaps you can see if there are any options like that with public access to those databases through libraries or archives. I think laws are different in each country so I dont know how South Africa differs from the US.

Thanks for the tip. I don't know if it will be possible, but it's definitely something to look into if I want to go further.

Another possibility is making use of Ancestry's a free 14-day trial. It would be a one time only thing, but the idea would be that once I've gone as far as I can without paying I would sign up and then spend those two weeks gathering as much information as I can.
