  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I think two angels who visited Lot would like a word with you...
Not at all. :) I always thought that was a major reason why God saw fit to destroy them. They were speaking of raping angels, and indicated that they were already in the habit of doing this to pretty much all newcomers to the two cities. It was like an even worse, more heinous thought behind the rape than normal. And rape is easily one of the worst evils one can do to another, in my eyes, in the first place.

I certainly do appreciate a beautiful and majestic artist's rendering of a traditional lady angel, of course (although I am among those Christians who believe that, even if the actual angels of God actually have a gender, they are considered male). And I assure you, none in my collection are at all depicted in a perverted way.

(Actually the last picture was an inspiration for a character in mine and Lantis' game for RPGMaker 1, Arc Arath. A guardian angel named Aries, called the Angel of Nobility. :) A character I am quite proud of, if I may be honest.)

Yes, yes, I know. All anime girls. ... But I know I have made my philosophy clear around here:

"Say no to anime. Say yes to anime girls." ^_^

3 DAYS!!!!

You excited, Tracie? :)

You know, I was meaning to give one last song dedication to you before you would have to leave the singles community. So, here it is. :) I don't know why; I guess it is just your good personality in general, but I somehow briefly think of you every time I play this song from Sailor Moon. ^-^

Was helping Mama Knight build a piece of furniture earlier tonight and America's Got Talent was going on in the background as we were working. I don't know if this was tonight's show or a recording of a past show but there was an interesting act depicted at one point, one that I did not think was typically allowed onto the stage, from what little I have seen of the show.

There was a girl of maybe just 20 or so depicting herself as the spooky little Japanese ghost girl stereotype and she did a magic act in which, keeping with the act, she remained silent when questioned by the judges and simply walked all the way up to their table and performed an act in front of them in which she "magically" had one of the judges guess a random card of people's names and portraits among ten or so and then reveal the name of the person in a newspaper clipping about a mass murder by fire or something to be the same as the card that the judge chose at "random". Then she took a picture of said judge and revealed the photo to have the "apparition" of the dead person she chose show up in the picture behind the judge. Of course it all creeped them out, but they voted her as a "yes" three-to-one, Simon Cowell of course being the one who could not abide this act and voted her out. I personally thought the act was quite clever, but then again, while I rail against all things evil and horrific in real life practice, in fiction I have a fascination with the horror and macabre that I believe stems from an innate desire to conquer it and "prove" my bravery, my mastery over evil so that it does not master me, and thus I thought the spooky girl's magic act to be quite well done, in theatrics and talent for the sleight-of-hand. I mean, OF COURSE I do not believe in ghosts or that the supernatural occurrence is anything beyond a rationally, scientifically or Biblically explained phenomenon that can be found if one looks hard enough. So that is why I found her entertaining and thinking nothing more of the act.

Although, I must say, if it turned out that the newspaper clipping of the mass suicide/murder (I do not remember for certain) by fire that the girl revealed to the judge to freak her out was a real life event, then I must say it was in poor taste. I believe God was right to forbid trying to contact the dead in any way in the Old Testament Bible, but at the same time I believe we should maintain some respect for the dead beyond using real-life people who tragically died as a punchline to a joke or as the fuel for an entertaining magic act in the realm of horror and the paranormal, as the girl performer did.

... Ah,. apparently the performance has already made its way to YouTube, so you can see for yourself here if you wish :):

(By the way, am I the only one who likened this girl to a miniature Michelle Rodriguez? ^_^ )

One criticism I can give of her performance is that this "Sacred Riana" girl had an unnecessary gimmick in which she twitched her head a lot. I didn't see a need for that. But otherwise, I think she played the part pretty solidly. And it was interesting to see her perform this strange act of the macabre in almost total silence but never seem to break stride or face. And again, I do hope that the mass tragedy she referred to in the newspaper clipping was of her own making and not a description of real people who died in such a way, as that would just be tasteless.

May I make it clear: It is a peculiar form of theatrics and mystique for the sake of (perhaps) artful expression and simple entertainment of the masses, nothing more, my friends. There are, I strongly believe, no such things as ghosts.

I am totally on board with this post ... assuming we can change pictured wolf to a human lady (keep the wings, of course) and she can be my personal guardian angel. ^-^
:happyblush: Thanks so much! You guys are so sweet...and I can totally say that you all are a wonderful part of the forum as well. I love having your friendship.

I wouldn't say I'm an angel, though; I have flaws and sins just like everybody else. But it is so nice to be a part of this community. On other sites I feel like a random member, but here in Singles I feel like part of a family. I'm so glad to be here. :)

If in need of talking, I'm open. My brother just shot himself to death a few months ago.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm open if you need to talk as well.
