  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yeah, most likely.

In other new I accidently washed my phone charger in the washing machine.. using my tablet charger.. hope it works.. honestly this might be a good thing.. less stupid cables hanging around..

The charger works.. thought it would.. since the specs are the same as the ruined charger.. even charges a little faster..

Not sure how to spend the rest of the day.. might play some video games.. haven't really played any this weekend.

Does anybody here have ANY experience of using the following:

- Inbox Dollars
- Gener8
- Survey Junkie
- MyPoints
- Swagbucks

Looking to make a bit of extra pocket money. Also, it's 5 o'clock over here now. Time for another serving of caffeine.
I used swag bucks like 15 years ago. Over a few years of using it I got $75 in amazon money for using the search engine. I guess I got lazy or busy and switched to google. I don’t know how it’s changed now days though. As I recall the search engine wasn’t that good for anything too complicated. I would use it to search for known sites instead of keeping them book marked. Sometimes I’d search random terms like cheese. I’m pretty sure I got a twitter account originally to get swagbucks. I had to use Google for any queries I had that weren’t toward known sites though because the search engine seemed lacking at the time.

Sounds like a phantasmagoria of hassle, confusion and pain. Might dangle the hook in the water though, it might work for me.

I used MyPoints in the past to feed my Hilton Rewards account. I converted Swagbucks into gift cards. Flyertalk had threads devoted to programs like these in the past.

Some bloggers use them and earn money through referrals. That’s primarily found on thrifty and couponing sites.

My cousin Anna - who I used to fondly tease by calling her "Lemon" (due to some weird excitable child character from an old anime from my teens) when we were younger - is in labor right now with twins. Please pray for her to make it through safely and with as little pain as humanly possible.

I just wonder if any of it is worth having. I'm the sort of guy to check into bed-only type hotels anyway. I mean, Travelodge is a luxury in my world. If your hotel room is too comfortable you never want to leave it.

Just looking to put a few streams together. You might make £10 on each, but ten of them is an extra £100. It's all what you put in of course. I just wonder if my time is better spent selling art work and building the website for it. My canvases are really starting to pile up.

It comes down to ROI. How much energy are you investing to earn the £100? I'd rather put the time towards profitable ventures. Clicking through emails, taking surveys, and joining things is fine if you want to do it. But I'd focus on the main thing first.

Getting the site up and selling art is a bigger priority. Turn them into digital prints and coloring pages for scale. Now you're talking. Post them on them on Instagram with a link to your site. Share your process and inspiration. Monetize it with links to materials, books, etc. Create a course on unleashing your inner artist, drawing, painting, etc.

If I wanted to be a painter. My pieces are the top of the food chain. The next rung is a retreat. Then a workshop. Then a digital summit. Then a course. Then a digital print. Then a printable (coloring pages, etc.). That's my funnel. It expands your platform and provides an entry point for the audience. You're capitalizing on both mediums.

That provides multiple income streams + visibility (summit) + ad revenue (if desired) + affiliate income. You can do sponsored posts as well.

When you make your name you can explore licensing. Or do it on your own terms as demonstrated. Or do both. Thomas Kinkade is a good example. I read his story, Billion Dollar Painter. The man was gifted.

ETA: Once you have your framework you can do the same for other ventures. Books, travel, etc. You could monetize your life if you're smart.

If you recall my comments on lifestyle design, that remark should unleash a grenade in your head. I built a life around my purpose.

Yeah, that's pretty much sealed it. Thank you for the slap.

With that, I can now have two VERY good, well managed MAIN streams. Anything that spurs off into a branch line is simply the byproduct of those two mains doing well.

Let's respect my time shall we? Do I want to be tiddling around for beer money?

This is why I debrief. Everyone needs good mates.

A few years ago when I (evidently felt I) had nothing better to do, I deep dove into the blog/giveaway scene. For a space of perhaps a month I sifted through blog lists and hops, kept a document of when giveaways began/ended, stayed up till dawn many nights, and ended up with an $15 Amazon gift card, a pair of headphones, and a couple bags of fruit snacks.

Fast forward to a month ago when I was doing some background on a website purporting to give Steam credit for clicking through surveys and such. One website broke down the quantity of money the company boasted its members had saved versus its number of members, and it came out that the average member saved something like 61 cents.

All this to say is that there is some money to be made on these sorts of things, but numbers are often (I wouldn't say always) arranged in a way so the money appears higher than reality. And it often requires more effort than face value would imply. Much boils down to how much time you're willing to spend versus how much money you could make in the same amount of time at a 'flesh-and-blood' job.

Exactly. That's your blueprint. Three sites: author, painter, lifestyle.

The lifestyle is the feeder. Cross sell in the newsletter. Flesh out the hipster. Three to four categories should do.

Three streams. Not two.

... Which wouldn't be bad, if what you were doing was remotely interesting. I think I'd rather put in a few shifts at Burger King if I were that desperate. (Now that I'm really thinking about it.)

Hard work combined with SMART work, relies on authenticity. I think that's the take away here. I could write and paint for 24 hours straight. But if I was fiddling around with surveys and websites, I'd be looking for a distraction and taking a break every quarter of an hour. ("Just going for walk number three of the day")

I do need to brush up on my presentation skills though. I think that's the one thing that lets me down. I'm a classic dyspraxic. Tools all over the floor, notes strewn all over the table, paint on my face, dialogue written on the back of train tickets - and on the floor, clothes in a pile, pizza boxes for paint palettes...

I'm not exaggerating either. I'm a mucky pup.

You've been a blessing. I'm NOT being a simp here, you've actually taken care of a lot of brain fog.

Something very special is happening with you at the moment. You're taking your vitamins and eating your veggies - that's for sure.

Thank you Reese. *hugs*

Rest assured you couldn't be a simp if you tried. This post deserved two ratings.
