  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Oh? May I ask who just out of curiosity? If it does not violate a sense of privacy, of course.

Alright, MarkSB just gave me permission to share that he is the CFer I met up with several years ago. ^_^

Online stuff like css, html, java, etc. We haven’t really gotten deep into anything yet. But it should be interesting.

I did finally get the software set up. It just wasn’t working on my laptop, so I installed it on my desktop computer instead.

Ah, cool. My sister did a webdev boot camp that covered most of those. She's trying to break into web development.

I learned a little html and css years ago, and occasionally build sites at work. Most involve Drupal or WordPress these days, but it isn't my main job. The thought has crossed my mind about going in that direction, but I'm already too involved with other projects.

This is why software development and system administration are different disciplines. ;)
Because it’s hard to install? :D

It looks a bit familiar to me so far just from using the internet over the years. I took the class both because it should be easy, and because I know I’ll learn some new things.
The only times I’ve made websites before was with a software 10+ years ago. I vaguely remember making a couple yahoo pages. One of them had some lord of the rings “fan” stuff that was pulled down, probably due to copyright images and music. I made a video with the mirror song from barlow girl with smegol looking at his reflection. :D Too bad I didn’t back up a copy.

Hmm, looks like imgur changed a little. It's actually better for the most part except animations don't appear animated unless you click on them to look at them. That's probably better for computer and internet speed, though.

Bat Girl existed in the Victorian Era?? :D

Super heroes often end up travelling through time, so that could be a picture from one such occasion.

I wanted to get some birkenstock sandals for my travel, always wanted to try a pair of them, but I'm not sure if they'll survive daily in 46-50C (114.8-122f) degrees, as heat exposure damages them. I've asked them officially, so let's see their advice.

Let's see...what's on the menu to be tackled today:
  • Research nested lists
  • Proper memory allocation and management
  • Download epic background music for future streams
Consider it done. :ok:

Just had a serious scare over here. I noticed a stray acting strange and appearing very sick. It didn't run away like a stray normally would, seemed to be getting aggressive as I got closer, and was displaying other weird symptoms. I was convinced it had Rabies, and ended up calling Animal Control and 911 (since Animal Control didn't seem all that interested at the time, probably because of how late it was). Eventually an officer did arrive, but there wasn't much he could do. He continued trying to reach Animal Control to get a mouser to check it out, and even offered to help try and catch the cat. Finally, after being given an eta of between 1 to 3 hours, the mouser showed up only a few minutes later.

I was concerned because Rabies is extremely rare in our area, and I didn't want it to start spreading; I did some quick research, and noticed the cat exhibiting signs similar to the virus. However, it turns out it just had a cold, haha - cat's get it much worse than humans, apparently.

I think that's enough excitement for one night... Here are some photos of the stray cat involved, btw:

It was good of you to show this much care for a stray animal.

Thanks, yeah a couple other neighbors and I are somewhat proactive regarding strays in the neighborhood. However, I was mainly afraid of a Rabies outbreak in my area, and wanted to address it as quickly as possible. Getting bit by a rabid animal or having pets nearby also getting infected wouldn't be a good situation for us to be in, lol.

Thankfully however, there was nothing to worry about. The stray hasn't moved much since yesterday, so I'll continue watching over it until it's well enough to take off on its own.

That sounds so scary! I'm glad to hear that everything ended up okay. I also hope the cat feels better soon.
