  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

An interesting thing about Adolf Hitler is that at the age of 14, he wanted to become a priest. I can imagine he would have been one heck of a preacher and become the Billy Graham of Europe. Instead, he uses his intellect and social/oratory prowess to gain power, kill millions of people, and leave an entire continent in ruins.

Goes to show that it's not the gifts and talents that matter, it's what you do with them that counts.

He was probably a highly empathetic individual (most likely great for the appreciation of spirituality).. he just used his empathy in very harmful ways.

There was an interesting movie about Hitler (Max) that came out in 2002 that a lot of people didn't like because it "humanized" the "monster" of Hitler. It brought into question if Hitler had gone down an artistic career path rather than his political one.

As for the "humanizing Hitler" I think its important to always remember that Hitler was human (One of the best examples of the worst humanity has to offer, but still human.) as the more we think of Hitler as a one off kind of monster the more it opens the door to complacency and increases the possibility that we might have to repeat history with another Hitler.

Yes.

Oh you asked someone else...

Yes.
It's a quarter per use. I think it was built in the '80s or something. Like riding one of those toys in the front of Walmart. American quarters only though.

I dunno man that's an awful steep price. I mean, time travel's cool and all, but I could buy a gumball for that price... or even five 5 cent candies. Think of the possibilities... could be a yellow gumball, green, red, purple...

American quarters were always half and half working in some of our machines or payphones and stuff. Some machines would take them, soms wouldn't. I remember scamming candy machines with those things called "slugs"... just a piece of metal with no face on it, I think they came from washing machines or something.

Eventually the 80's will turn into the 90's, then into the 2000's, and then the 2010's. You might want to hang on to that time machine. ;)
Then he'll just be 30 years older at the same exact spot he's in now haha

Nah, two rides through the awesomeness of the 80s and 90s is twice as much awesome as anyone else can experience... I doubt the human body could even handle the double dose of awesome. :D

Besides, by the time the 80s and 90s ended a second time I'd be 60 years old. Prime age to retire, sit in my garage, porch or backyard screaming at teens to git off muh lawn.... that's fun no matter the decade.

Also, something I've noticed...

1990's = Millennial Golden Age.
1980's = Generation X Golden Age.
1960's = Baby Boomer Golden Age.
1950's = Silent Generation Golden Age.
1920's = Greatest Generation Golden Age.
This is true... however some times right.

For example... my parents hated my music when I was a kid, they grew to like it. proving that while it wasnt what they considered good at the time. Once they gave it a chance.... the talent was obvious. They also played my parents music on the radio as "oldies"

Fast forward to my generation. I listen to music of today, even with an open music palette and open mind... it's just straight meaningless hollow garbage. My music... still isnt on the "oldies" station but is played on the "new music" station yet every time I have turned it on, 90% of the time its music I listened to in the 90s when I was in highschool.

I know there will always be rose colored glasses involved in the speculation of "greatest generation".... but there are times where there is truth to the roseyness
