I took your indirect suggestion on the red wine earlier to help with digestive-related pain, Miss S&S. ... I don't know if this "chocolatier decadence" red wine or whatever it is called that I found is really helping, though. Maybe I should just stick with Sangria. ^_^

If Sangria in Spanish does indeed mean "blood", then consider me a vampire. For I find its texture and taste quite agreeable. ^_^

sangria is pretty good too, more fruity tasting...bahaahha who am i to say these things, i barely drink, honestly, and i usually mix in sodas and whatever juice i find in the kitchen when i do have anything alcoholic...i do hope your digestion probs has improved though, but yeah there was a study saying it might be helpful but ofcourse drink in mod

wow legolas doesn't seem to run out of arrows!

That's one thing that I had to agree with Nostalgia Critic on when he talked about the bad aspects of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I don't watch him much anymore, because, well, he actually doesn't seem like that great a guy in lieu of recent events. But he was right; the elves in LOTR, especially Legolas, are too dang good at fighting to be believable. ^_^

I've been researching my family tree, which has been quite a fun experience. It's a bit of a dead end on the South African side of the family as there's not a great deal available online, but there's quite a bit out there for UK records.

The slightly tricky thing is that you need to pay to view some records, which I'm trying to avoid doing, but piecing things together from free searches is a bit like something of a logic puzzle e.g. I know the district in the UK where my great-grandmother was born, so by searching on that district and her maiden name I was able to find all her siblings. And it can be very satisfying to find a piece of information that fills in a gap - my great-grandfather was born in India because his father was serving in the army there, so I thought that I might not find anything else, but it turns out that birth and baptism records do exist for India in that period, and there might even be more information related to India available

Only Legolas can single-handedly / effortlessly bring down a giant elephant. =P

And that's why I feel superior to J.R.R. Tolkien. I had an lady elf character named Tasera Alleigra in my work of fiction (an RPGMaker 1 game named "Arc Arath"), and she was not all-powerful in this way like Legolas was. In fact, while she willingly chose to go along with the party far enough into the story, she was actually quite frightened of the Evil forces that oppose the heroes and threaten the world in the game, and could fall in battle if the player was not careful.

*talks in the Cinema Snob's high-brow voice* :p ... In other words, I am superior to Tolkien because I make hero characters who have believable strengths and weaknesses. ^_^

Can you get free access to some records through local public libraries?
I found some stuff through just googling, and looking specifically at records for certain towns.

It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow. Even darkness must pass. - Sam Gamgee

lol so true Sam, so trueee!!!:unbelievable:

Watching in wonderment the birds in the garden preening their feathers and feeding their young. How something with the brain the size of a pea has the awareness to do that is awe-inspiring.

My mom's side of the family are all from the UK, and there's quite a bit of information available there. There were censuses held in the UK every 10 years from 1841, so that's been quite useful in putting together information from my great-grandparents' generation and back - all of my grandparents are dead, so my mom is only resource I have in that regard.

The census records can be viewed through ancestry.com, although it's a little weird as sometimes they'll show the whole record and other times they say that you have to pay to view it, and it seems a little random as to what they let you see - one member of a household might be visible but another not. So the information is all there, but it ca involve putting together various separate pieces.

My dad's family is all from South Africa, which is where it gets trickier. Not so much for my grandmother, as there's a cousin who's done a lot of work there, but I don't know of anyone who's done something similar for grandfather. He wasn't originally from Cape Town, so that does make looking for physical records more complicated, although the town he was born in is only about an hour away (if that), so visiting there isn't a major endeavour if I ever feel that way inclined.

But for now, researching my mom's family is keeping me busy enough. The past few nights it's been a case of "let me just look up one thing before I go to bed", and two hours later I'm still at it.

Lol Smoegel reminds me of bad friend relationships were you think you could trust the person, but actually they just wanted something from you and then there's Sam who represents a faithful friend who truly looks out for your wellbeing

Good morning!

Another weird dream from me from last night :

In one part I was with some kids and one of my study hall monitors from high school. It was the middle of winter and there were several feet of snow on the ground, and we were playing a board game outside! The wind blew some of the game pieces around and we had to chase them down. Then we went back inside but the study hall monitor had somehow gotten buried in the snow. All of a sudden we were in a school building and surprised the study hall monitor by shouting "Happy birthday!" She hugged all of us and started talking about food.

Another part was supposed to be part of my series, but it was totally different. Master Silhouite (one of the main villains) sent purple glowing magic over things to turn them evil. Zero Suit Samus and a guy who was supposed to be her friend (but his name was never mentioned, so I'll just call him Guy #1) were running through a field and a herd of buffalo was also running through that field. Master Silhouite struck the buffalo, causing them to turn evil and chase Samus and Guy #1, who ran away.

Master Silhouite then struck an entire town, turning everyone there into zombie/dummy-like monsters that ate yarn. People, along with a sheep, were sitting at picnic tables eating yarn when Samus and Guy #1, not knowing about the danger, came into town carrying a basket of fruit. Guy #1 fell over, knocking Samus and the basket of fruit on the ground as well. One of the people from the town (I'll call him Guy #2) noticed them and said "It's them!" He went over to them, and Samus looked shocked; I thought she was shocked because Guy #2 looked like a monster, but instead she just said "It's you!" because she knew him.

So Guy #2, who apparently was a friend of Samus and Guy #1 and was only pretending to be a monster, led both of them into his shop. After randomly criticizing Samus's Zero Suit, he told her that there was something hidden in a water-filled tunnel in one wall of his shop. So Samus took a deep breath and swam through the tunnel to the other side. Once on the other side, she suddenly had her Power Suit and wandered around the place, where there were platforms, alligator monsters, sparking balls, and a pool of water. Then I woke up.

There were a few short parts of the dream too but they weren't very interesting.
