It was like a human barnyard. I wasn’t personally involved but if someone I connected with posted I’d see the thread. Watching them behave like that made me happy I know the Lord. When you’re around things like that it dulls the spirit. You grow desensitized to what occurs.

Social media hasn’t been problematic but I keep friends and family off my feed. That prevents them from getting drawn into debates, becoming a target, or showing me stuff I’d rather not see. I avoid certain subjects too. That alleviates arguments.

I think in general as a society people have been so much more mean.

I think you’ll see more as things worsen. I sense its a combination of stress, frustration, pain, and spiritual elements. I pay attention to the temperature. There comes a point when withdrawal is best to preserve your mind and heart.

Many people came online for similar reasons in the past. They lived in small towns and didn’t have as many options to meet suitors.

One thing I have been working on with relationships/ friendships this year is less texting. I did that a little bit too much in the past, and it wasn't a good investment for friendships. Real conversations on the phone and real-time meetings seems better and what I am striving for.

I think that’s best. Texting has its place but it can become a convenient way of staying connected without making an effort.

I don’t want to go to sleep. I keep having bad dreams.

I wonder if God likes to read.

It's a half hour earlier than I usually wake up. A half hour is not much so why do I feel like I've been cheated out of some valuable sleep time? Strange.

I think I'll watch something until I fall back asleep. I don't really have anything pressing to do, anyway.

I actually had pleasant dreams last night, from 5am to a few minutes ago. ^-^

Dreams of writing my own books, finding a solid origin story for a childhood creation of mine, a hero of the Light named Prince Harold Rodchester. And his "family" who consists of blood siblings, lifelong friends, his one love, and, believe or not, various quadrupedal pets. All hailing from a guardian country in the Antarctic which consists of varied races of Earth dwellers charged from the beginning of time to defend the planet from evil otherwordly forces.

I think back on these "stories" - if you can call them that, as they held very little narrative cohesion - I wrote as a kid every now and again and wonder: what was I thinking as a ten year-old to come up with a name like Harold Rodchester for a fantasy hero-type character?

That's quite impressive for a ten year old; although, I'm not surprised. You're a creative, smart knight. I'm pretty sure at ten I was still eating dirt.

It was a good dream. I was sitting in the den of my maternal grandparents' house - a treasured place of my childhood all the way to my early twenties, no doubt - actually writing this "origin story" for Harold, how all this worldwide conflict got started and what he was doing so innocently in life all throughout his younger years up until the real story began, him knowing all the while he was destined for legendary things. Like, I am seeing myself write down all of this, rethinking some things here and there, going back and erasing and writing new stuff into this blank book, in pretty unusual cursive. Yeah, this dream was going down into details like that.

I actually had two or three blank books (like a hardcover journal) as a kid where I wrote these stories down, though. I wish I knew whatever happened to them. The writing was about what you'd expect from a child, but, still, I wish I could go back and read them, again. There was nothing coherent in my writing, tying up all the little stories together other than the fact that it was the same group of heroes, Harold and the Rodchester family, and the same group of villains, otherwordly evil forces called the Ambrosia Knights (dramatic eyeroll at the fact that I was clearly just trying to sound cool with a name like that ), in each one. Still, as I said before, I guess it's about what you'd expect a "creative knight", as you have so graciously termed me, to have be able to write as a 6 to 15 year-old child. ^-^



And now I remember, clearly the most inspirational character from those times was Jersey Amy Rodchester, not of blood relation to Harold but his best companion who stuck with him through years and years and even centuries of war and adventure without (and I made a point to distinguish their relationship in this way since so much fiction seems to have an unwritten rule saying otherwise) ever becoming lovers. Just the best of pals despite it being an opposite-sex pairing. .... She was revered as the Lady Knight, for her beauty and nobility who everyone admired and adored. So, you see where that eventually came through to influence a character in my later writing as an adult, named Jersey Heartshorn, who after an unexpected deed of bravery became known among the peoples as "there was no better knight living", in spirit rather than actual profession of course. (If @angelsaroundme and @Multifavs happen to remember her, since she seemed to be the one thing remembered well by the few folk who either played through or watched the playthrough of our RPGMaker game that was released in 2015. )





Yeah, that was the other thing that was weird about those childhood stories. Nearly all of the main heroes barely had any actual blood relation to one another, but I named them all as part of the same family, the Rodchetsers. They weren't even all of the same species of creature. Some were full humans, some were cat people, some were normal four-legged animals who simply could talk, two were cyborgs, and one was an elf. Figure that one out.

It's a clever way to show their unanimity, perhaps? Gosh, I kind of want to read it, and that would be an unusual genre for me. Although, I did enjoy what I read of George MacDonald's works: Phantastes and Lilith. I should break those out and read them again. Rarely do I read any kind of fiction, much less fantasy/fairy tale novels.

I started writing them years before I learned to use a computer to type (at age 13 or so), so unfortunately there's barely any trace left, but there were a couple that I saved via computer and to this day have. I can pm you one if you'd like. Although, if it actually doesn't sound that childish to you when you read it, it's probably because I kept updating the word documents with slightly better writing style over the next several years as I grew up, so what you read now will probably be around 20 to 22 year-old me style, as opposed to 12 or 13 year-old me when I first wrote it. Just let me know.

Absolutely, I'd be honored to read your writing.

Scary times that we are living in. The other day some coworkers started talking about the changes in society and how there was too many whiners... I kind of backed down instead of joining because it reminded me of older generations saying how good things used to be that they didn't used to do something. It's the same conversations that I rolled my eyes at when I was younger and I did not get respect or understanding from older adults. Not that what they were saying was not true, but I just felt like they weren't seeking any understanding of where the new generations were going.

What was scary was when one person thought if things get out of hand that it could become a purge. I'm vaguely familiar with this as I came across a video that was about the movie sometime ago. It pretty much freaked me out the whole idea. What scared me, is that this person seemed excited about that possibility. Most likely because they thought it would be a resolution to the high crimes and issues that are going on in society and her and her family would not have to worry since they live far in the country and are well stocked.

Just now scrolling through social media I came across a video, maybe it was like a tick tock video or something, with Jennifer Lawrence. A guy asked her while she was pregnant if there was a comet that we was going to destroy the world, what is one last thing she would like to do. In her elegant glittering dress and a sweet smile she said MURDER. I think this was at some kind of gala or red carpet event, the interviewer chuckled and said, like a purge? She batted her eyelashes sweetly with a smile and said, a purge.

This is quite alarming, but at the same time I kind of think the movies that you play in can definitely affect some of the choices that you make outside in your personal life. This is not acceptable! Yet, it seems to be popular culture. So unfortunate.
