  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Many theologians believe that since there will be no death in Heaven, we won't be killing animals for their meat. We'd all be vegetarians there.

I guess it's more proof that bacon is so good it's a sin.

I don’t know if physical food will even be a thing in Heaven. But if there is food, we can trust that it will be better than anything on earth

Why can't God just create meat without having to kill an animal? Humans will most likely someday be able to do this.

Still revolves around the concept of death.. but that'd be true for all foods.

I meant it as a bit of a jest. I do agree with you both. We are already able to grow meat using stem cells and since God is omnipotent, why couldn't He just make artificial meat? Even more so, the food will be even better than the most expensive of food on Earth.

Didn't know we had that capability.. imagine it's really expensive at that point. Will be good when it becomes cheap and widespread.. the treatment of many farm animals is horrible.. sadly for many people like me.. we don't have it in us to abstain from eating meat.

Lab-grown meat may save a lot more than farm animals’ lives

There may be meat in Heaven after all!

There are so many people who think they don’t need to follow instructions. It happens a lot at work. Do they think they are the exception to the rules? I don’t really know...

When there is already a pretty stringent rule structure in place, you can't really be that surprised if you attempt to add in your own. You are probably better off either asking individuals personally for their thoughts or ignoring the responses from those you aren't interested in. But in a public forum context, making threads only about and for you doesn't work all that well.

Plus, if the idea here is fellowship and community, cutting a big chunk of the community out doesn't really play to that objective.

Sitting here in the library and watched a young boy maybe 12 or 13 years old walk up to his grandmother who was at a computer to tell her that another older woman cussed him. Grandmother then gets up and walks over to older woman to ask if there was a problem with her grandboy. Older woman says no and dismisses it. Then this offended grandmother gets up to tell the librarian of the incident.

I'm just putting myself in the librarian's shoes. And I'm thinking I would've said something politely like, "What do you want me to do?"

Do you all ever have moments where you put yourself in the place of somebody to get a feel for how they have to work/live? By the way, the apostle Paul said that Christians would judge angels one day. I'm still trying to figure out the judgments of God and what they all entail.
