  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Also, I want to say that I'm pretty impressed that there's an autistic power ranger now. First there was Christian Wolff from the Accountant, now there's the blue power ranger with Asperger's.

It's nice that we're becoming more represented in a positive light.
I actually thought that was quite refreshing. I really enjoyed that aspect too.

I will admit, my only little peeve about it is that they make him the smart guy.

Among my top frustrations with Asperger's is that we're often stereotyped as geniuses. I don't consider myself smart, I just have a good memory for certain kinds of facts.

Iunno I think you're pretty smart. A good sign to tell a person's intelligence is their sense of humor. But I know what you mean about stereotyping, yeah, they do play that role a lot for people with Asperger's.

My sense of humour was taught to me as my mother raised me to have a sense of humour. We would often go back and forth at each other with jokes and comebacks as a way of building social skills.

I practiced and got good at it.

But I know what you mean about stereotyping, yeah, they do play that role a lot for people with Asperger's.

I'm looking at you, Sheldon!

Don't people with aspergers have a higher IQ on average?

Average to above average IQ's and only a few are geniuses.

If I were to be given an IQ test, there would be some parts of it I would score really high on, and others I would absolutely bomb. Yes, I have a natural understanding for things like history, religion, and to a degree, the arts. However, the sensory issues, the meltdowns, the difficulty understanding people, the isolation, the limited interests and such are hardly worth the trade.

If God wanted me to be autistic, then He could at least given me a savant ability like Stephen Wiltshire.

After weeks of not being able to post because my email was "unconfirmed" suddenly... I'm back.

Greetings, Mojo. I admit I was a bit worried you had chosen to leave entirely. It is good to see otherwise.

Okay, sorry about this, everyone. This whole time when I thought my phone was getting a wavering signal, prompting me to keep trying to send the post through every now and again, .... every time I tried to hit the "post reply" it actually was getting through and I just could not tell because the browser window stayed on the screen where you type a post in. My bad.

I didn't do a whole lot there. Like I blew through shinjuku, harijukj, nakano, musashisakai, etc. But I usually stuck with my Okinawa friend and his other friend who came from Hawaii as I did. We kept it pretty simple and didn't go anywhere iffy per say. We did see some of that but it was like I never played tourist there too much. 90 days+ I guess does that. I've never been to Europe thus far. I can imagine Japan can be pretty perverse though since culturally such stuff is deemed ok within a variety of circumstances.

Oh, right, so you were WAY out then. Yeah, Shinjuku at night is not necessarily a nice place to be. If I was ever there I was pestered constantly by dealers and prostitutes. It wasn't so bad in the middle, but if you dare drift down a lane, it's like meeting the writers of spam emails.

I conceded on my last night (had to stay up anyway, I was getting picked up at 4) and went into one of the 'bars' for a drink. Just to see what was really going on. I knew something was up when I asked for a whisky and the guy at the bar pours literally a quintuple sized portion. (On American money, that equates to about 6 ounces.) Basically, it was ENORMOUS. And at this point only 1,000 yen has left my wallet (I was half tempted to nip back for a flask to empty the contents of the glass! I love a bargain.)

Then a Japanese girl sits down next to be and begins touching me in various places. I don't react. She starts talking, I keep my answers to yes or no. Eventually I get fed up, finish my drink (if you can believe it), and head to the police box to make a statement and to guide them into the right direction. Keep firmly in mind that en route to the police box (as well as a shop stop for a STRONG black coffee) the owner of the bar has offered me every narcotic under the sun, with a detailed price list to boot. (I regret not secretly filming that bit.)

I don't know what the police will do about it, but it's up to them. Fortunately that's only a very very small part of my overall stay in Japan. The other 95% of it makes for some delightful stories.

Went to get my haircut today, and the woman who cut my hair was surprised about how thick my hair is.

Which is true. Sometimes it can just look like a huge block.

While I'll probably never have to worry about balding, I do think sometimes my hair can be a little cumbersome.
