Failed to see crosswalk lights and almost hit a pedestrian due to sleep deprivation and fatigue. I feel so stupid about it all. :( I've made mistakes backing up before, but not driving forward thinking the girl would let me past before she crossed.

Well at least nothing bad actually happened. You're human, just learn and do better next time.

Well, you're lucky, because you should have points on your licence now, and you don't. Sleep deprivation will never stand up in court if an officer had clocked you.

If you're tired, don't drive. I know it's a devastating experience and you'll lose confidence, but hopefully, that'll make you less complacent from now on.

I never drive if I feel less than 85%. I'm too easily distracted at the best of times.

Meh, that doesnt make you a bad driver. It makes you human.... you made a mistake. Learn from it and move on.

If you were a bad driver you wouldnt have even known you made a mistake. Use your mistake to make sure you never allow yourself to make it again.

As for never driving while tired........ it looks nice on paper, but reality is, life and the world don't stop spinning just cause you need a nap. Some times you gotta do things that are less than ideal.

I get the idea America is pretty unique in this opinion. I've seen psas from other countries that say you shouldn't ever get behind the wheel if you'r tired or groggy. Truthfully I think that's the wiser stance. Stopping your world for a few hours is worth it if it saves a life. Cars are extremely dangerous as is, to operate them without full cognizance should be unacceptable. If it's that important to be driving, put your other plans on the back burner and make sleep a priority.

Again, its nice on paper..... but try telling your boss" I cant make it in today, Im too tired and need a nap".

I agree impaired driving is not ideal nor advised but to act like the world is going to stop or responsibilities disappear just cause you're tired is unrealistic.

I know how dangerous cars can be, I am a car guy and love to drive so yes, Im aware how much distance is covered by delayed reaction times..etc... but we live in a world where "ideal" is rare. Sadly.
