  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Got back from the hospital. Did some blood work, checked my blood pressure (it's doing fine but it is on the low side) and next week they're going to put some patches on my chest to monitor my heart rate for a full 24 hours.

The results will take a few weeks to come in.

I have a fantastic part-time internship for the quarter, and was given the opportunity to become a full-time employee (just for a specific time period, though). I'm deliberating on whether to go for it because this chance won't come again. :)

Praying for you, @Wayholka.:)

____________

Also, everyone, please give a prayer for the few people in the world who suffer from "butterfly skin" disease right now. If you have never heard of it, the gist of it is that it causes those afflicted to have skin so tenuously attached that it tears very easily from the slightest physical activity. You can imagine how much of a living hell this must be to live with. The disease is called so because its victims have skin as seemingly delicate as a butterfly's.

But there is hope to at least make life more bearable for them right now. I got a notification from the charity DEBRA whose focus is on helping those afflicted with the skin disease bear the physical burden a bit better, and to fund research to treat the anomaly. I'll just copy and paste the news I received here:

In July 2016, Fibrocell announced enrollment of the first two adult subjects in its Phase I/II clinical trial of FCX-007 for the treatment of Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB). FCX-007 is Fibrocell’s investigational gene-therapy product candidate for the treatment of RDEB. The primary objective of this open-label, Phase I/II clinical trial is to evaluate the safety of FCX-007 in RDEB subjects. Additionally, the trial will evaluate type VII collagen expression and the presence of anchoring fibrils resulting from FCX-007, as well as evidence of wound healing.

All the scientific speak aside, I can only take this to mean that the gene-therapy product FCX-007 may be able to help anchor one's skin to the body better so that people with the disease will not bruise and bleed so easily. If the trial is a success, this should relieve a lot of the physical discomfort and pain that RDEB victims routinely experience. Please pray that it will be so.

Praying everything turns out all right.

I got into an office fight today.
