CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wonder....... can I use Einstein's theory to get out of speeding tickets..... 
If the cop does not agree with me then he must agree with Galilean relativity. In which case, how could he possibly be for certain that I was the one moving so fast. Maybe HE was doing 100 mph on the side of the highway while I was innocently idling on the hwy.
IF he believes in Einsteins theory, then that means that him pulling me over is in fact false accusations. Cause IF I am doing 100 mph and he is doing 100 mph then that means really I wasn't even doing 1 mph because he was moving in my same direction which, to his eyes I would be staying still and he pulls me over saying I was doing 100 he is a liar.
To someone sitting still viewing I AM doing 100, but if he is doing 100 as well than to his eyes I am not moving.
So..... we can deduce that if I am "standing still" while he is flashing his lights at me.... then he did NOT witness me doing 100 by any valid testimony because... when he was looking at me and taveling with me, I was NOT doing 100, I was doing my speed minus his speed.
If he saw me doing 100 while he was sitting still, how valid is that as an eye witness? It could have been anyone..... maybe the flash was having a slow day.
Speed is not absolute, it changes depending on who is looking at it. After all, I am on Earth, so even while I stand still. I am still moving at least 1,000 mph being that the Earth spins that fast.
All that aside, I love watching documentaries on things such as physics and the "expert" speaks a different language....... but there is no "voice over translation. "

Yeah, pretty much.... its a crap shoot. Its usually just easier to pay the fine and be on your way, but thats what they are counting on.

Yo, Toro! Sorry I've been quiet lately. So busy.Hey Mojo.
I loathe V- day (even when Im not single) but happy V day back at cha and the rest of CF as well.
Yeah, V-Day is sucks when you're single. It is also my parents' wedding anniversary. I'll be spending most the day cooking and trying to keep my mom happy, which my sister makes a Herculean feat every single year. The last few years, she's brought her kids to be babysat while she and her husband go shopping and stuff, then come back to be served dinner because they're married, and so V-Day is automatically about them; and not my parents who got married on V-Day. Logic.
And this year, my sister decided not to come at all, which to my mom means she's not making any effort, which is somehow equal to no one is making an effort. So in short, no matter what I do or how much effort I put into it- it will not be enough, because my sister didn't do anything.
But hey, all things considered, last year my parents had their anniversary dinner in the hospital, so definitely counting blessings.

Yikes, I dont envy your position Mojo. I am glad that it is a better one than last year and happy you are able to count those blessings.
My V-Day so far being spent watching documentaries on the physics of light/space.... etc...
Sadly, I could be dating/married and Id probably still be doing the same thing. This is actually pretty interesting. Being a visual hands on learner.... documentaries that are well done and informative teach me a LOT more than a book on the same subject, even if cliff notes are provided.
Give me something and let me reverse engineer it.... Im good.
Have someone else reverse engineer it and write a book about it then hand me the book.... Im useless.
Let me watch someone else reverse engineer it, I might not be AS good as if I had done it myself but....... Id still be mostly okay.

Not necessarily. When I was young, I pulled out and a woman t-boned my truck. An accident report was filed by the state troopers and I was issued a ticket for "reckless driving". Now, the trooper had "walked off" and measured the skid marks made by the womans tires. According to his calculations, (actually the NC DMV's skid tables) she was doing 40mph when she struck my vehicle, which was within the speed limit. Taking into account deceleration, he estimated her speed at 55mph when she "hit the brakes". That was actually 10mph over the speed limit, he cited that I should have judged her speed and waited to pull out.
So, before we go to court, my mother does her own calculations. What the trooper failed to take into account was the size and weight of my vehicle and the size and weight of the woman's vehicle. Her vehicle weighed 1850lbs. My truck weighed 3800lbs. Then, she calculated the force necessary for the woman's 1850lb car to "throw" my 3800lb truck more than 25ft down the road, rip off the camper top, and propel a tire nearly 90ft into field.
Her calculations proved that the womans car would have to have been travelling at 109fps (about 75mph), upon impact, to have enough force to do that. The woman was also travelling downhill on a road with an incline of approx. 20°. We went to the DA and presented our "evidence" before the court date, along with my mother's engineering credentials. She also told the DA that the calculations didn't even take into account the cars crumple zones or the force/energy lost and the fact that the impact drove the womans front tires against rear of the engine compartment. She also asked the DA if he actually wanted us to go to court and prove that the NCDMVs tables were nonsense.
The DA dropped all the "charges".
