It's inspiring to hear about your experience @Deidre32 , I'm glad for you that you've encountered something so life-changing.

I've many times thought it would be handy if we could take color pictures about things we experience and could just show the thing for others without having to explain it with words.

Maybe I will next time. lol
Interestingly, when people came face to face with Jesus in the flesh, as we can read about from the Bible, some people were still doubtful and naysayers. We seem to have this push-pull thing going on as humans, with the supernatural realm. For me, sadly...I had lost faith...the blind faith discussed in the Bible. And it took something to actually happen for me to believe again. But, even during Jesus' day...He still had many who doubted that He was the Messiah, and that He was Divine.

Mankind has't changed a whole lot, I'm afraid.

Yep. This is how Christ-believers are a true inspiration for others, both fellow believers and those who may not yet believe, by relating how much good He does in our lives, helping us and protecting us, influencing us to want to better ourselves and the poor and oppressed around us.

If only those believers who didn't seem so obsessed with relating their faith to others through seemingly nothing but threats of hellfire and soul-torture for not agreeing with them on every little thing, then the Gospel would likely be more effectively told and shown to a battered world. (And no, I am honestly not thinking of anyone in Singles here right now who fits my example of a jibbering God's-gonna-get-you judgment-lover, so don't worry. )

Deidre gives an exemplary testimony here, as a renewed believer.

Exactly this. Reading the Gospel isn't enough. You have to embrace it. You have to first believe it, but that's not even enough. Because the Bible is based on others' stories and experiences, we need to have faith to believe that those stories are in fact, true. But, we have to have our own experiences of faith. Our own experiences of Jesus, in order to have a relationship with Him. If you read a book about someone you love, is that the end of it? Or do you need to also experience that person, in order to really embrace the person, understand the person, and want to be with the person? So, the Bible to me, is a foundation and a book of truths, but it's just the beginning. We often see Christians who condemn non-Christians and non-believers by reciting the Bible to them, and it's just not convincing. If you want to convince someone of the beauty and Truth of God...let Jesus shine through you. Get out da way.
