Yeah lol. Even I hardly know how a car works. Lol.

They REALLY aren't that hard. At least, before the computer took over the car. New cars, you have to be more of a computer tech than a wrench turner. :|

In your fuse box. :p

Disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery should be enough in all honesty. I just like to pull fuses to make sure.

Forgetting to reset is easy to do, especially for smaller maintenance items.

Pulling a fuse does sound like fun, but I'd be afraid of ruining something. >.> ... XD

Nah, just dont rip it out and youd be good.

That is honestly the hardest part of working on a car. Getting over the intimidation factor.

No mechanic learned cars in a book. They learned by doing, cars are one of those things that demands hands on if you are going to learn it.

I was terrified of messing something up, but I LOVED cars, simply didn't know anything about them til I climbed under the hood. You start off with the small stuff, build confidence.... and before you know it you're under the hood messing with the tougher jobs.

Older cars aren't hard to work on, but they ARE a pain in the butt to work on.... cars are like jigsaw puzzles. The task of putting this piece on that piece isn't a hard task. Its the process of getting at those pieces etc.

But its nice to know at least a little of what you are talking about when dealing with shops.

I had one shop try and charge me $1400 once simply because they didn't bleed the coolant system when I took it in cause I didn't want to waste my Saturday fighting a busted hose in a tight spot. Not bleeding the air out of the system caused it to over heat like crazy. They said blown head gasket. I disagreed, replaced the reservoir that blew up on the highway, put in coolant and bled the lines.... ran great again. It was a $10 fix instead of a $1400 non fix.

Looks like the geeks had the last laugh, lol.

Yep, pretty much. :unbelievable:

All this talk has made me wish I had a garage even more. :(

Maybe when work slows down at the end of the year I will take out the interior and replace it with the much prettier black dash and other parts I have waiting to go in finally. Instead of rolling with this ugly brown cracked interior. (Live and learn, Armor All is NOT your friend. Any silicone based interior dressing/tire shine garbage really.)

I lost a friend recently, who was a member of this site and some atheist sites. His name was Mequa. He didn't post here much, but he passed away due to complications with a heart surgery, last month. I lost touch with him, and wish we hadn't. We had so many disagreements, and then we just stopped talking. But, there was a time we talked every day.

Life is very short, so make sure you spend it wisely.

OMM: Life is precious. Be a wise steward of the time you're given for we are not promised tomorrow.

And that one person you need to contact, do it now for they could be dead tomorrow. Usually it doesn't happen, but that one time...

It's about as complicated and as fun as changing a light bulb. Hard to really mess up (except for getting the wrong fuse), although maybe I've just changed out easy fuses.

Gosh, do we all have loved ones dying right now or something? My niece was just 22, and I had just totally forgotten her birthday...but I remembered the other holiday that day...
