Speak American here..

I've heard all those languages and more spoken in America. If I were to speak American I'd have to know hundreds of languages to reflect all the tongues Americans speak.

I've noticed how members leave and then return to this forum in batches... Why? Can't people do anything these days without being influenced by others?

No clue.

Btw, fancy going to a conference in May next year? Being hosted by the ministry that hosts the sermons you were shown. Don't know where it will be hosted yet, presumably London.

I can't speak for others, but I came back strictly of my own accord. Had nothing to do with whether or not others returned.

PM me...

I don't want things to get too personal in public. (Obviously you know why.)

Oh, trust me, I believe you. Toro is one WILD bull. ^_^

Good to know.

Update: Cabot wood stain acts night-and-day different than Minwax and Danish Oil... Though it could be because I was using Cabot as a second coat overtop Minwax.

I do not understand Cabot. Do I apply and promptly remove excess? Waiting any amount of time results in a tacky consistency. Heck, it's tacky when you apply it. At this point, I'm almost considering using this as a thin paint. The glistening appearance of over application looks somewhat attractive, and I made a dog's breakfast of application the first time, and damage control is now the priority. :ahem:

I still think I'm doing a decent job having no experience on my first large project. :D But no more of that. I have a date with P.G. Wodehouse and Psmith.

I'm not familiar with Cabot, but if its a wood stain you typically wipe off the excess within a few minutes. You can wait longer to wipe it off if you want it to be darker, but usually the longer that you wait, the greater the risk of ending up with streaks or splotches. Dye stains imo tend to be less forgiving than pigment stains (most stains are a mixture of the 2, but may lean heavier one way or the other). Most of the dye stains I've used needed to be wiped off very quickly if you want a lighter color, and you need to be very consistent with the amount of time that you leave them on if you want an even color.

(Sorry if that's too much info. :D)

An excellent book for wood finishing, which gives you a complete breakdown of everything that's out there is Bob Flexner's "Understanding Wood Finishes":

EDIT: I'm not very familiar with floor finishes either...

Can Richard Dawkins ever conduct himself without swallowing the Oxford Book of Satire before showing up for an interview? I might be inclined to respect his point of view a little more if he didn't talk so facetiously. I find it impossible to take people like that seriously, because it tells me that they can't win an argument without making the opposition look stupid.

Same. Couldn't find an active forum to post on, so I came back.

Interesting. I use taptalk for another forum or two, but for CF I just use the mobile version (in Google Chrome.)

Is it easier to do things on taptalk than the browser?
