  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I acknowledged that some women prefer tall men just as some women prefer short men.
I was saying that I personally know a lot of women who also are indifferent when it comes to height.
I was not personally aware of the issues shorter men fact because, like I said, I know a lot of men who are shorter and I haven't seen a lot of discrimination towards them personally. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but simply that I hadn't seen it. Like you and I agreed on, there is an underrepresentation in the media.

I just do not see how this is possible. Growing up it was a huge deal to people that I was short. Men would mock me and women would openly state that I wasn't tall enough for them (despite not even pursuing them), and this behavior was deemed acceptable. No one spoke out against it. I don't see how someone can go through life and think short men have it just fine.

What have they done to you for being short, besides refusing to go on dates with you?

Lol, I've had people refuse to even want to be my friend simply for my height.

Well it is possible.
I am not lying. It's simply what I have witnessed in my life. I'm sorry that you have had such negative experiences.

That's silly.

Yeah, that was more in my teenage days. But still.

I was an outcast for being one of the short guys. So it's not just about having more trouble with dating it's being viewed as a second class citizen.

Lol, I've had people refuse to even want to be my friend simply for my height.

Then they are jerks who are not worth your time. If height was a requirement for them then they must be very superficial people to have as your friend.

The friends I remember most fondly were other eccentric people who others didn't considered normal. I find that most neurotypical relationships are superficial and very fickle, requiring certain dress codes or specific talents in order to make friendships work. I personally think it's a load of horse crap.

I'm sorry that your height has been a huge handicap for you in the social department. Despite every I went through, I was taught that I had to learn to deal with it and adapt otherwise life will only be stuck in the past. It's something I'm still trying to learn but have gotten significantly better since 2015.

Don't let your height define you. There are certainly a lot worse handicaps out there that ruin your life the moment you are born.

Hey, my advice is to stop reading all the awful buzz feed articles or SJW sites you come across. It's not healthy to always expose yourself to the ignorant and rude opinions of others. Their opinion is of no value and they aren't a good cross section of normal women. You know they are horrible and mean, so why give their trash the time of day ?

This. After spending 10 years on Newgrounds, I deleted my original account to get away from that incredibly toxic community. Christian Forums has been a much better community for me and I regret not finding this website before Newgrounds.

Going on those sites when your a frequent target of theirs is like walking around a ghetto neighborhood wearing rival gang colors. It just simply doesn't end well and everyone knows it.

I never knew Newgrounds was so cut throat. I remember thinking about joining that site when I was younger.

I never knew Newgrounds was so cut throat. I remember thinking about joining that site when I was younger.

They are one of the most toxic communities on the net.

1) The way they judge you is pitiful. Their first impressions of you is based on your sign up date and post count. If you sign up between 1999 to 2004, you are considered old school and have full credibility. If you signed up 2006 and after, you are literally seen as a noob who is ruining the site. 2005 was neutral ground. They also think the higher your post count is, the more credibly you have since on Newgrounds the mods aggressively encourage you to make quality posts instead of short spammy ones.

2) The way they interact with you is atrocious. Having a proper discussion with them is impossible unless you post in the Politics forum. They always resort to petty name calling and think the most effective way to win an argument is to point out all the spelling mistakes in your post. They are incredibly abusive and the mods let them abuse you for the most part. If I could diagnose the entire community with a mental disorder, I would diagnose them with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They are incredibly arrogant, entitled, lack empathy and will exploit you for their own amusement.

3) Their culture revolves around hating everything made after 1999. They are notoriously hard to please and would crap all over me for making my comics like how you see them here on CF. They are incredibly negative, pessimistic, and have nothing good to say about anyone. They are also obsessed with the male genitalia and act like middle school students. It's mostly made up of angry teenage boys and you'll be hard pressed to find girls there because girls get A LOT of unwanted attention there. If I was female, I'd be incredibly uncomfortable being there. NG used to be an underground website where people posted their violent flashes so it attracted all sorts of creeps and freaks. There was one user who actually committed a school shooting after making violent flashes. Another one attempted to burn his school down after making a topic about it and was eventually caught before he could carry it out. He was put into a mental institution.

4) The moderators are very unprofessional. They honestly believe that they're better than you (some even openly admit it) and they often lock your topic with a very snide post. They have no problem humiliating you, breaking the very rules they enforce, and having their very own clique. If you make a humorous topic that doesn't reach their standards, they will delete it and ban everyone who posted in it. There are actually rules on their forum that some mods will enforce but others won't. I served as a moderator who specialized in making flash icons and sorting flash games and movies in genres for an upcoming redesign and had access to their secret mod forum. The admins said that the mods had to stop acting like modship was a reward for being such 'great users'. They even said that they refuse to admit that they're wrong because it would, 'stroke the user's egos'. More like it would damage their own by acknowledging that they screwed up.

5) Trolling there is an every day thing. When it comes to feeding trolls, they will give you a steak and lobster dinner along with the finest wines. People frequently make sock puppet accounts just to post incredibly outrageous topics and personas so everyone will flame them.

6) Drama is common whenever a notorious flash game or movie gets removed. If you side with the admins and mods, you were considered a suck up. If you sided against them, you were considered a troll. There was no winning with them. Usually the drama was far more brutal than what you typically see here on CF.

7) There have been incidents where accounts have been hacked and phished. One moderator got phished leaving his financial information vulnerable. He even said that it was incredible that people who had the potential to financially ruin him only hacked his account just so they can troll him on NG. Another moderator hot phished and his account was used to vandalize the front page of the website.

8) There are certain features you'll find on other forums that you won't see on NG because the admins KNOW that the users will abuse them. For the longest time an edit button was a nono for them because people would edit their posts just to troll others. They added one but it has a 15 minute time limit and they can look back to what you originally posted previously. They don't have a 'like' system because users would make sock puppet accounts to like their own posts. There were some features from other parts of the site that had to be removed because people kept abusing them to troll.

These are what I can name at the top of my head. I don't know why I spent so much time with them in the first place. At first I enjoyed their dark and cynical sense of humour but after a while the whole angsty Columbine teenager mentality gets incredibly old.

Kinda sounds like Gamespot. I used to post on those forums as a teenager. Impossible not to get banned there.. even if you were pretty mellow for the most part.

Yeah, I sound too old for that website. Not that I'd probably care much about what they had to say. Honestly sounds like the Youtube comment section.

They were the YouTube community before YouTube.

There's a former member named Arin Hanson AKA Egoraptor who used to make flashes for NG but left to work on Game Grumps instead. He said that he met many of his friends on NG but at the same time there were a lot of extreme scum bags. He also said that looking on YouTube comments you just see stupidity but Newgrounders will follow your work just to wreck you.

I can think of at least five men that I know who would be considered short. They are all known for being good, honest, intelligent men, they are college graduates (a couple of them have master's degrees), they all have married really fantastic women, and four of them have kids. One of them I am especially close to and he has talked about dealing with self-esteem issues related to his height in the past, but I have never once heard anyone make a comment regarding it. I'm sorry that you have dealt with hurtful comments from people. I grew up dealing with a lot of unseemly comments from people regarding me being a bigger kid, and those things still stick today. Now I'm not saying that shorter guys have it easy or that they are silly for worrying about their height. I think we all have things that we are self-conscious about. But I am telling you that most people are not going to judge you because of your height, and it has no bearing on your worth as a human being. That's not an opinion either, that's just the truth.

I was glad to be able to see my little cousin Haley graduate with a major in journalism from UT in Knoxville (so this is Tennessee i speak of, not Texas XD) yesterday. She has even worked as an intern at channel 3 news based in Chattanooga previously, so I would say she is well on her way to a successful and fulfilling career. I have even seen a few videos from Haley's channel on YouTube where she has done minor reportings on camera and honestly she seems extremely steady and assured with her words and tone. Please pray that God helps her to find her way in life as a career lady now that the school days are over. :)

As the graduation ceremony ended and I began to walk up the steps out of the stadium, someone down below began to play an instrumental version of "Rocky Top" over the speakers and the remaining audience proudly joined in with the lyrics. .... Having lived out of my dear home state of Tennessee for 25 years now, I must say that is a song I have not had the elation of hearing in a really long time. ^-^

Now I just have to look up that other Osborne Brothers song "Tennessee Hound Dog", I suppose, to complete my nostalgia of being a Tennessee native. ^-^

And I must admit, not that Southern Arkansas University - where I come from - was in scarce supply of them, but there were certainly many beautiful ladies gracing the campus of UT.:D Kind of one of many reasons I wish I were a student again and had engaged in more (albeit morally reasonable) socializing than I had in my actual time. Sure I consider myself still young, but, being an adult beyond the college life and into the working world kind of sucks sometimes. :/
