  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My new meds aren't doing much, it's been a few weeks so they should be starting to help at least. I wish I could just shut my mind off.

Believe me, Miss Punky Chick. For a period of several months one time about five years ago, I felt the same way, wishing desperately that my mind would just go blank and I would think of nothing at all, but rather just do whatever I was doing at the moment on the automatic, even if like a robot, because I feared my own thoughts that much. I do sympathize. I shall pray for you.

Im fairly sure considering what it is, its fine. However Im no expert.

Anyone know is yogurts "expire" or "best by" date is a good indicator?

I know yogurt is spoiled milk already and so technically has already "spoiled" but....... before I start shoveling this stuff into my protein morning shakes..... I wanna make sure Im not ingesting bad, spoiled milk.

It only "expired" about 5 days ago, is unopened and was frozen (my fridge setting was coldest, I raised it and it has since thawed, but still cold of course)

Just wondering if anyone knows when this stuff spoils at a rate that shouldn't be ingested. I cant stand yogurt so Im not sure about when its "bad" or not, being that eating it is relatively new for me and the only way I can ingest it is through a morning shake.

I only put it in my shakes for the protein content of Greek yogurt and the fact its "good for you", at least until the next funded "study" shows otherwise as is the case with "science" today.

As far as I know the expiry/best by date is the date until the quality is still guaranteed. Over here in The Netherlands it varies per brand. Some stay good for quite some time after the expiry date, others start dissolving and lumps etc start forming + the taste is not as good.
I'm not familiar with the American Yoghurt but Dutch yoghurt stays good for a long time and you can ingest it sometimes a week after the date with no problemo's.

I don't even have an idea what the American yoghurt is like but I know I love Dutch yoghurt and custard and it's really goooood :ebil:

Okay, I just heard of gender less pronouns being used in school.....

No wonder there are so many idiots today...... the schools are dumbing down....

Pluto is no longer a planet.(Yes, Im bitter so what..... I had to learn it :sput: )
They dont teach "He,she. Only it" pronouns.

What's next? No more subtraction and division in math because "Division" and "taking away something" is offensive?

Awesome thanks.

Well, Im new to yogurt so I have no idea on the differences but I have yet to have one that I like. I like the health benefits but the taste and constancy always reminds me I may as well be eating from a petri dish so its all new to me. I may try some dutch yogurt if I see it. :)

Maybe it's just me, but I noticed as popular singers, Christian or nonChristian, become richer, their actual singing becomes worse and their lyrics less inspired. I bought a CD from a popular secularist band awhile back and could barely make it through the CD - and not because it was too secularist either.

That's what's happening with Becka Shae. I really enjoyed the inspiring music she wrote and sang (with meaning), but now... it sounds an awful lot like popular music where it the album all sounds the same.

Welcome to corporate music.

When they first start out they have something to say. There is soul and feeling in what they sing.

Once they "make it" they HAVE to pour out more songs because they are under contract for a set number of albums. Like anything corporation owned its not about quality its about striking while the iron is hot as they say.About draining every cent out of a commodity (in this case the "musician") before tossing it aside and moving on to the next one.

Im not in the business, but I think thats how its run.

Music these days suck.... its NOT that there aren't talented musicians.... its that the music industry is about a packaged look.

You take someone that is nice to look at, autotune their voice (or you package them as edgy and "rocker" style) and sell the image more than the sound.

Its why everything is so generic.

Because they like generic. Use someone up, toss them aside and use the next space filler that you sell the image of with little to no talent.

Talent is a limited pool....... it takes time, effort, money and other resources to locate and use. Its MUCH more cost effective to PUSH an image and to pay for "awards" that are hollow and meaningless so the sheeple think "they are the best" :|

Believe it or not, I can sing rock a little, and I thought about becoming a singer/musician at one point. Then a family member sat me down and told me that the producers/agents/whatever will just want me to sing trashy lyrics to make money for them and for me to become increasingly edgy, so I shouldn't even audition. It was enough to scare me out of pursuing music.

I wanted to be a singer when I was a kid, and I did the research on various artists. Many of them become "corrupt" to the point of death. I then realized what being a singer meant by the industry's standards. I didn't pursue that life since. I still love music, I just refuse the lifestyle they enforce.

You can still pursue music.... just do it outside the norms.

The system doesn't ever change if no one opposes it. (Not to say that ALL rebellion is good...... but some times it IS the only sane option)

If you dont like trash lyrics..... don't compromise. Dont sign contracts that legally bind you to compromise.

If you can't find that with one label, move on to the next without signing. (Or start your own label that doesn't force the artist to compromise)

Look at Nirvana for example. They werent what most would consider "talented" but they changed music because they DIDN'T fit into a nice neat package. (The industry of course came along and used THAT image as a package as well and profited off it like mad...... but... it changed thanks to bands like them. Nirvana not being the main pushers of the musical change.... but they were one main face of it.)

I dont believe God gives talents so we can put them on the shelf and allow them to get dusty because we have a fear or a desire to not have to "deal" with something whether that be the "fame" or it be a broken system that one needs to stand against.

I was wondering if anyone else agreed with the majority of the "nice gestures" listed in this link below, that they are actually usually unhelpful and actually may come off as more rude than the opposite that is intended. Normally I would say that it all depends on how you present yourself when you try to make the "helpful" gesture, whether it will be taken to kindly by the recipient or not. But, some of the things listed here I really do think are, in and of themselves, just blatantly rude or overbearing to most people. Like, just straight up saying that you'll order for your date at the restaurant you've gone to (or the friend you are taking out to a place you've been to before but he/she hasn't)? Or trying to be "positive" by simply saying stuff like "come on, cheer up! Just snap out of it!" to a depressed friend, without really even listening to them? Yeah, stop that. It's not helpful; it's condescending to most people.

Hmm,Im guilty of doing aleast half those things and never realized they weren't actually nice.

I think most of us have done a good number of the gestures listed, and we may have meant well, of course, but, it's weird how we might still keep doing them even after seeing that they come off as forcible to most people.
