  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

OMM: Jazz Music

Recently I started getting into 1920's Jazz music. It started as watching an hour long video on YouTube and ended up me buying a whole album of 60 songs for $11.00 (18 cents per song). Normally the songs I listen to are hard sounding and fast paced but I'm finding this aged genre to be rather relaxing and peaceful to listen to. This was the stuff my Great Grandfather jammed to during his teen years.

Beautiful stuff. :hrelax:
I really enjoy the big band jazz that was so popular in the 30s and 40s. It's definitely good stuff.

Lucky great grandfather you had there....... mine was too busy walking 50 miles up hill both ways in -40 degree weather in July without shoes just to get to school and then to work 90 hours a week for 5 cents a day.

Which is why my grand father was so lucky he only had to walk 25 miles in those very same conditions.

Which is why my dad was lucky he only had to walk 10 miles in said exact conditions.

Which is why I count my lucky stars I only had to walk 5.......

...And my generation takes the bus if we don't already have a car with heating and air conditioning at the age of 16...

Each generation gets softer, doesn't it?

I also like how in those days they can make love songs without being sexual about it.

For violent songs, just compare The Andrew Sister's 'Pistol Packin' Mamma' versus Eminem's 'One Shot 2 Shot'.

Makes me think about the kind of music the next couple generations will listen to...

You know, until 2008 I thought MTV stood for 'Mature Television' because of all the shows they had such as 'Jackass', 'My Super Sweet 16', 'Jersey Shore' and 'Beavis and Butthead'. I had no idea it was about music until they announced it on the news that it was no longer to be known as 'Music Television'.

I have a lot to learn.

Yes, even back in the day Beavis and Butthead listened/watched music videos. (Mocking or praising the song in their style)

It even at one time had a special time slot for rap music "Yo! MTV Raps" while they played mostly pop/rock and a time slot for heavier stuff "Headbangers Ball"

I don't know if I'm excited about the new Power Rangers movie, or if I'm too old. That was the show when I was a kid. We'd all run around pretending we were Power Rangers :D

MTV - From music and music videos to pregnant teens.

The Learning Channel - From educational shows to Honey Boo Boo.

The History Channel - From WWII documentaries to cryptozoology, aliens, and conspiracy junk.

Sci-Fi/Syfy - From science fiction shows to low budget movies.

I can see why Netflix is taking over Cable now...

I was not allowed to watch the Power Rangers because of all the violence. Instead, I watched Beetle Borgs.

You may proceed to laugh and point fingers at me.

Yep, even Netflix is starting to get a little too "lets make this" happy.

But hey, as long as they save shows like Longmire......... I shant complain.

Shelf Longmire for one of their lame "originals" and I will lose it. :|

The latest trailer was awesome! Really took me back to my childhood, although the beginning looked a lot like the movie Chronicle. I think Elizabeth Banks is a great choice to play Rita Repulsa but I was hoping the costume would look more like the one in the tv series. I was also worried Bryan Cranston would looks silly but I like the design they went with.

Nah man I can't wait for it to come to theatres lol. I used to watch the original series all the time as a kid, it was my favorite show.

Movie looks pretty cool, but I have a feeling the first one if going to be mostly story and less action... the trailer made it seem like that anyway. Leaving room for sequels.

I was so obsessed with the Power Rangers as a kid. ^_^ I remember when the first movie came out. I had no idea they were doing another one!

This one's made for teens/young adults, whereas the one with Dr.Ooz (lol) was for kids.

I LOVED Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers in the mid-90s, but I lost interest when they started doing all the spin offs (Zeo, Power Rangers in Space, etc). This new movie has me SO PSYCHED! That second trailer is dope!

THE MEGAZORD! MY GOD IT'S GLORIOUS!
