  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fact is we are in the end times and we will see lots of rebellion and hate.

What we as Christians and friends on the same forum have to achieve is Ephesians 6 and wear the whole armor of God, not just part of it but all of it if we want to be able to stand to the end.

We unlike generates before us are going to have the toughest battle in the history of mankind. We are a generation that has been brainwashed into believing the pop culture lie and we no longer are trained as a society to lead with a good nature.

My hope for all of us is that we stay hidden from the world and that we act according to the word of god. It will be the toughest battle since the beginning of time but if we read and practice what we read we will be fine, it may be lonely and hard sometimes but with practice and patients we will survive to live an eternal life.

What can I say? It appears that the Western World has had enough of this Politically Correct culture that left wing governments are trying to bring in. Hitler used an economic and national pride crisis and used the Jews as a scapegoat in order to get into power. These parties are trying to repeat history by using an economic and cultural crisis and use the Muslims as a scapegoat.

History tends to work in cycles. What happens in the past doesn't necessarily stay in the past.

I honestly don't see it being that way, but you are certainly correct that history does indeed repeat itself. It's all recorded in prophesy in the Bible.

Fact is we are in the end times and we will see lots of rebellion and hate.

Oh most definitely! Bible Prophecy to me is history written in advanced. That's why it's my favorite part of the Bible. I already have an obsessive interest in history so this is perfect.

Now that I see it, Obama has lost a future successor and now has precious little time to act out his policies on the Palestinian issue. He may try to do something drastic before Trump can get into office to undo all the work he did. I'm expecting something big in the Middle East before January 20.

I should have learned how to read music much earlier on, for only now do I see the benefits in it

My plan for retirement since I don't have enough to retire on is to buy myself a nice guitar when I am 55 and practice for the next ten years and when I turn 65 I will be able to play in the bars for pocket money.

Firstly, thank you to all for the prayers and we'll wishes, my dad is doing better now.

Second, with the confusion as to the popular vote, some states take months to count all their votes. As of the election night when Romney conceded defeat, he was ahead in the pop vote.
Erm Hilary won more VOTES. More Americans voted for her then trump and he still won it. Erm is that really democracy or is the system that was fine 100 years ago just not working and isn't actually democratic at all ? (Not having a go just asking)

It is meant to protect us from the tyranny of true democracy-- in which three people could decide that their neighbors who makes more money than them should have to pay them half his salary , out vote him, and take it. We are a federalist system, the Electoral College protects states rights, and makes sure that every state is important and has a voice that matters in the process. Trump won more than double the amount of states Hillary won, probably dozens of times more districts than she, and shattered the 270 Electoral votes to win. Oh but she won in New York and California, which always vote Democrat no matter what-- if California was balanced like most states rather than giving Hillary thirty percent victory margin-- Trump would have creamed her in the popular vote.

If not for the Electoral College, California and New York would pretty much decide every election, because those states have such a large populace. and they always vote democrat.

*Peeks in then backs away slowly* lol

Insulting? okay. erm, you asked a question, and I replied with actual information beyond political platitudes, conspiracy theories, or "the system is broken, we're all doomed! the end times are coming..."... Sorry for putting some actual thought into a response. You asked if it was "democracy", I explained that it is, but it also protects us from the tyranny that democracy can bring with it. I'm so sorry I offended you with my different opinions. (That was insulting ;) )

I wasn't asking you a question...

I was making a remark too someone else post!

No I didn't say your opinion was different,

*sigh*

I never said we are doomed (we aren't)

Well the system (and not the voting system) is broken when a man who is well erm yeah... can enquirer the biggest job in the world... but it's been broken for a long time

I asked if it was a democracy not how the system worked! I know how the system works fine well.

I don't need to be lectured at!

And what you talked about what the system nothing about democracy ha ha Tyranny what you are talking about is tyranny of majority rule to protect the minority... Potentially, a disliked ethnic, religious, political, or racial group may be deliberately penalized by the majority element acting through the democratic process

I can't wait to tell people this from the irony of it!

I hardly ever read the prophets aha, I'm just like "wut...". Heavy stuff in there.
Congrats!

I've been thinking about going back to school lately. I'm still not sure what I want to do, but growing up in a "medical" household (both of my parents were in the medical field), I've thought about possibly being a nurse. I'm good with all that stuff and I definitely have the temperament and work ethic and when I think about it, it just seems so right.

I'm praying about it and seeing where God leads me.

Good luck with your studies. :)
Thanks :) It's mostly just an idea/hope right now, as currently I'm not well enough for it, but it's not till September so we'll see.

Did you read some of the posts from others who responded? there was quite a bit of doom and gloom. So I tried to offer something different than what others said. man, I wonder how yall can possibly tolerate the unmitigated audacity.

Well the system (and not the voting system) is broken when a man who is well erm yeah... can enquirer the biggest job in the world... but it's been broken for a long time
it's not the system that's broken, it's the people, and the media. Trump is the monster that the media created-- their dishonesty, hubris, haughty arrogance created an environment in which a man like Trump could resonate with people.

I asked if it was a democracy not how the system worked! I know how the system works fine well.
*looks at original post*
the Electoral College protects states rights, and makes sure that every state is important and has a voice that matters in the process.
Is that not a valid response?

And what you talked about what the system nothing about democracy ha ha
I point to my previous answer again. I'd expound on it, but I don't wanna be accused of lecturing :eheh: Again....

what you are talking about is tran-ny of majority rule to protect the minority... Potentially, a disliked ethnic, religious, political, or racial group may be deliberately penalized by the majority element acting through the democratic process
Yes, that is possible in true democracy , thus our system was created with rules that try to prevent such a thing.

At the risk of sounding lecture-y-- is that a word?-- eh, I'm using it-- different states have different cultures , for instance, many grown adults in New York City don't drive, have never driven- they have no need. There's taxis, subways, buses, etc. while people in say Iowa, living on farms have been driving since they were ten years old. Neither one really knows what life is like for the other, do they? so why should one choose for the other who the president should be?

In a true democracy, the farmers get stumped every time, because big cities are so densely populated. Why would a candidate bother campaigning in Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, etc? It wouldn't be worth their time, those states wouldn't matter. The campaigns would be fought solely in places like NYC, LA, Seattle, Portland, Boston- big cities. as a result, they'd swing the election every single time. The Electoral College guarantees that ever state has a voice, every state matters.

So, in context, she was contesting another statement about Trump winning a democratic election. She has a point.

Erm Hilary won more VOTES. More Americans voted for her then trump and he still won it. Erm is that really democracy or is the system that was fine 100 years ago just not working and isn't actually democratic at all ? (Not having a go just asking)

Right it's not a pure democracy. It's the representative democracy that allows this. We elect our voters, not the president directly, and our voters may not actually vote according to their own affiliation. Then some states have different laws about how this works, which makes that even more fun. It's a headache. And this has only happened five times including this last election, two of which during our lifetime, so it could mean there's something wrong, but not necessarily the election system.

Nope, IF I were going to ride in anything other than the DeLorean.... it would be a Ford. (Hey, Im not the biggest fan of Ford quality.... but they are the only ones that didnt take a bailout from mommy and daddy government.... so I gotta respect that)

Besides, the DeLorean was always breaking down in BTTF and nothing breaks down like a Ford. :hahaha:

Just reminding everyone to be respectful when having a disagreement. I know things get heated quickly concerning politics, but please remember to put away frustration. Disagreeing is fine if it is handled in a respectful manner.

And also, please keep in mind the Singles Statement of Purpose:

Moving on! :sorry:

Today is day 7 of exercising and yoga. I think I'm going to fall over. lol I think I'm also regressing instead of progressing. Day 1 was great, no issues, you would have thought I'd been exercising all the time... Day 3? Terrible. I was aching the whole time, yoga didn't relax any of my muscles, I felt like I was doing it all wrong... Day 4, 5, 6? Better! Felt good, did a few of the exercises in different ways, got the same accomplished feeling but felt better in my muscles in the process. Today? I feel like Im going to die. lol I barely got done with -any- of the sections of my work out.

This is where my will power is kicking in. I'm relying on it heavily. I'm praying through out because I know just one little bit of distraction will take me totally off course.

You might wanna have a day of rest for your muscles to recover. Yoga is still pinpointing those muscle areas much like strength training. :)
Good job on staying committed though!
