EARTH SONG

(By Michael Jackson)

What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

What have we done to the world
Look what we've done
What about all the peace
That you pledge your only son...
What about flowering fields
Is there a time
What about all the dreams
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the children dead from war
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don't know where we are
Although I know we've drifted far

Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

Hey, what about yesterday
(What about us )
What about the seas
(What about us )
The heavens are falling down
(What about us )
I can't even breathe
(What about us )
What about the bleeding Earth
(What about us )
Can't we feel it's wounds
(What about us )
What about nature's worth
( ooo, ooo )
It's our planet's womb
(What about us )
What about animals
(What about it )
We've turned kingdoms to dust
(What about us )
What about elephants
(What about us )
Have we lost their trust
(What about us )
What about crying whales
(What about us )
We're ravaging the seas
(What about us )
What about forest trails
( ooo, ooo )
Burnt despite our pleas
(What about us )
What about the holy land
(What about it )
Torn apart by creed
(What about us )
What about the common man
(What about us )
Can't we set him free
(What about us )
What about children dying
(What about us )
Can't you heat them cry
(What about us )
Where did we go wrong
( ooo, ooo )
Someone tell me why
(What about us )
What about babies
(What about it )
What about the days
(What about us )
What about all their joy
(What about us )
What about the man
(What about us )
What about the crying man
(What about us )
What about Abraham
(What about us )
What about death again
( ooo, ooo )
Do we give a damn
Aaaaaaaaah Aaaaaaaaah

This song is just WOW!!!
I thank the Lord, that he gave Michael Jackson the talent to compose and write such songs.

way too many, but thought i'd add one that i'm listening to right now.

black star by radiohead:

i get home from work and you're still standing in your dressing gown
well what am i to do?
i know all the things around your head and what they do to you.
what are we coming to?
what are we gonna do?
blame it on the black star
blame it on the falling sky
blame it on the satellite that beams me home.
the troubled words of a troubled mind i try to understand
what is eating you.
i try to stay awake but it's 58hrs since that i last slept with you.
what are we coming to?
i just don't know anymore.

blame it on the black star
blame it on the falling sky
blame it on the satellite that beams me home.

i get on the train and i just stand about now that i don't think of you.
i keep falling over i keep passing out
when i see a face like you.
what am i coming to?
i'm gonna melt down.

blame it on the black star
blame it on the falling sky
blame it on the satellite that beams me home.

this is killing me
this is killing me

^I love that song. I'll add one that's just a few tracks later on The Bends.....

Radiohead- "Street Spirit [Fade Out]"

Rows of houses, all bearing down on me
I can feel their blue hands touching me
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out

This machine will, will not communicate
These thoughts and the strain I am under
Be a world child, form a circle
Before we all go under
And fade out again and fade out again

Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life
I can feel death, can see its beady eyes
All these things into position
All these things we'll one day swallow whole
And fade out again and fade out again

Immerse your soul in love
IMMERSE YOUR SOUL IN LOVE

Here are some songs that bring tears to my eyes:

Al Di La (not sure who first sang this)
Al di la, means you are far above me, very far
Al di la, as distant as the lovely, evening star
Where you walk flowers bloom
When you smile all the gloom turns to sunshine
And my heart opens wide
When you're gone it fades inside and, seems to have died

Al di la,
I wondered as I drifted,
where you were
Al di la,
the fog around me lifted,
there you were
In the kiss that I gave was the love I had saved for a lifetime
Then I knew,
all of you,
was completely mine.

Ballad of the Green Berets by Sgt. Barry Sadler
(this song reminds me of my grandfather who was a WWII hero)

Fighting soldiers from the sky
Fearless men who jump and die
Men who mean just what they say
The brave men of the Green Beret

Silver wings, upon their chest
These are men, America’s best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret

Trained to live off natures land
Trained in combat, hand-to-hand
Men who fight by night and day
Courage peak from the Green Berets

Silver wings, upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret

Back at home a young wife waits
Her Green Beret has met his fate
He has died for those oppressed
Leaving her his last request:

“Put silver wings, on my son’s chest
Make him one of America’s best
He’ll be a man they'll test one day
Have him win the Green Beret”

Silver wings upon their chest
These are men, America's best
One hundred men will test today
But only three win the Green Beret

Some other powerful songs that I couldnt find the lyrics to are "He's Alive" by Kirk Franklin (about the Resurrection of Our Lord, as told by Peter) and "La Via Dolorosa" by Sandu Patty (Via Dolorosa is the road Jesus walked while carrying the Cross, the road that leads to Golgotha)

Its too bad I cant post the music with it....without the music the lyrics just look like a poem.

I hear so many songs that I like and a lot of them are meaningful to me. Probably because 50% of it is punk and that holds a lot of back activism in it's messages. The rest is mostly hardcore music, so that is what I post. The band itself just helped me into the scene of the genre and the words are all too good, probably some other song I missed, but can't remember them all. Ironic sidenote, when I listen to the song, I can't hear a single word of the lyrics below. The author tends to write lyrics to songs and not sing them, but instead let them become what the song is in theory..heh.

Artist: Between the Buried and Me
Song: More of Myself to Kill

You have all wept once more... why?
I would never ask for such.
Go.

I have realized for once in my existence my true happiness.
This is a first time for me... I feel innocent, caring, and non-threatening.
Reincarnation for a better life... becoming one with true harmony.
No gods have caressed or burned me, only nature is willing to comfort me.
Salvation is dead and all of you have passed away with me today.
I will never have to entertain or please any of you ever again.
I am alive.

My memory is the only thing keeping the old tears in my eyes.
I still know that all of you are taking for the sake of not leaving.
You are killing the innocent for your so-called nutrition.
You are infecting our lands with your filth.
You are killing for the sake of your promotions in life.
One day we will all be in this soil... with no gods to slave to, and no heroes to kill for.

One of the most positive and meaningful songs for me is one by Guy Sebastian off his album 'Just as i am'. It's called 'So I'.

Here are the words ;) :

So many keep questioning
What's wrong with the world today?
Same people that see a glass
And call it half empty
It's so hard sometimes to see the truth
When your standing in the dark
Always thinking with your head
Instead of following your heart

So I (So I)
Live each day like it is my last
So I (So I)
Keep my feet on the narrow path
This life never gives you a second chance
I’m just trying to do the right thing
Trying to be a better man

I’ll never be perfect
But I still gotta try
A bird must always fall
Before he learns to fly
That’s why I’m trying to leave this place
Better than the day before
I won’t stop
I won’t quit
Until I reach my goal

And I know if we try
We could all see eye to eye
Only one at a time
We can change people’s lives

So I (So I)
Live each day like it is my last
So I (So I)
Keep my feet on the narrow path
This life never gives you a second chance
I’m just trying to do the right thing
Trying to be a better man

There’s gotta be a better way
If we’re gonna shed some love on the world today
We got brothers killing brothers
Nobody cares about each other
So what we’re gonna take a stand
Starting here with me

So I (So I)
Live each day like it is my last
So I (So I)
Keep my feet on the narrow path
This life never gives you a second chance
I’m just trying to do the right thing
Trying to be a better man

So I (So I)
Live each day like it is my last
So I (So I)
Keep my feet on the narrow path
This life never gives you a second chance
I’m just trying to do the right thing
Trying to be a better man

Goodness too many to name... but here's some

Beautiful Saviour and also You Alone - David Crowder
Man what beautiful relaxing and yet passionate songs to the Lord... I could just listen for hours, what beautiful music and lyrics...

Nothing Compares and King of Glory - Third Day
Fave songs from my fave band... amazing majesty of God and comparing all that to the best man can offer... O I forgot about OFFERING... this song is really meaning much to me right now

O Lead ME and I've Searched for Gold - Delerious
Blasts from the past but still so true... quiet stillness of God and the beauty of His holiness are what we seek, so beautifully portrayed in these songs

Romantically...
BETTER MAN - hate RW but it counts as our first dance
AMAZED - always wanted to sing this to someone, got the chance at a wedding this year
COME WHAT MAY - during the lowest point in our relationship we danced to this song not knowing if we would be together the next day... we're now engaged!! Getting emotional just writing this!!! What a sook I am! Sorry to bore you all with my life!

Pedro the Lion- "The Fleecing"

Deep green hills whose shoulders fade into thick grey
Tall wet grass whose flesh makes fools of grazing sheep
Whose fleecing makes a fool of me
Who shall I blame for this sweet and heavy trouble
For every stupid struggle, I don’t know
I could buy you a drink
I could tell you all about it
I could tell you why I doubt it, and why I still believe......

I can’t say it like I sing it
I can’t sing it like I think it
I can’t think like I feel it
And I don’t feel a thing....Oh no....I don't feel it......

Who shall I blame for this sweet and heavy trouble
For every stupid struggle, I don’t know
I could buy you a drink
I could tell you all about it
I could tell you why I doubt it, and why I still believe it
And why I need it
And what the pharisees don't see
We’d have more drinks
And speak of so many things
But I don’t know you and you don’t know me........

This song just makes me well up with happiness, reminding me about what a miracle it is to be a human, and to be able to love people.

"Dead Man's Will" by Iron & Wine

Give this stone to my brother,
Cos we found it playing in the barnyard many years ago.
Give this Bone to my father.
He'll remember hunting in the hills when I was ten years old.

May my love reach you all.
I locked it in myself and buried it too long.
Now that I come to fall,
Please say it's not too late now that I'm dead and gone.

Give this string to my mother.
It pulled the baby teeth she keeps inside the drawer.
Give this ring to my lover.
I was scared and stupid not to ask for her hand long before.

May my love reach you all.
I locked it in myself and buried it too long.
Now that I come to fall,
Please say it's not too late now that I'm dead and gone.

I can't believe that you said that!!! That's the song that I ALWAYS play for someone if they haven't heard DT before (unless they are total metal-heads, then DT doesn't do a thing for them). I've don't know how many times I've sent that song to someone over MSN Messenger; many of the MSNers here can attest to that.;)
