Why don't you go up to some kid while they are with their parents and start explaining about sex and then see if they feel it is no different than talking about trains.

Then you turn around and say you can't talk to your parents about sex ? ;)

YOU SHOULD NOT BE TALKING TO OTHER PEOPLES KIDS ABOUT SEX, PERIOD. IT IS CALLED CROSSING THE LINE.
the fact that the topic of sex ends up to be embarrassing doesn't make a tabù itself: it's a cultural superstructure.
inform and advice are 2 different things?
if a 16 yo came to me asking what a condom is, i'd tell him. if he asked me if in my opinion he should have sex for the first time, i'd tell him that i could not know, or something like that.
the reason why parents (most of them) are not the best people for this is because (prudes or not) they don't like to see their kids grow up and even get to know about sex. if a kid is one of those lucky ones who feel comfortable talking to his parents about sex, good for him. my 15 yo sister prefers to talk with me about these things and nobody ever thought that i was crossing any line.

assume (if you are not) that you are a gay homosexual male and that you are on a forum and read a new post that says:

What would you do ?

I'd probably tell him that no fourteen year old should be labeling themselves.

That's an age when elevated hormone levels play lots of cruel jokes on you.

Everything from pimples to random erections to wondering if you might be gay because you noticed a friend in the locker room was well endowed.

The important thing is to realize that many of the feelings you have will change as you mature past puberty. At fourteen you should be thinking about baseball, school, and movies, - not worrying about having a boyfriend or girlfriend.

I'm still wondering why the issue of internet safety only applies to homosexual male teens, not homosexual females or heterosexuals?

I'm pretty sure hetero females are the most frequent victims of someone CROSSING THE LINE WITH THE KID.
feel free to start your own thread. This was just an example. Sorry if it was not PC enough for yee .

I'm not concerned by a lack of political correctness. I'm just wondering why so preoccupied with teh ghey, when it's an issue that concerns all youth, not just gay males.
You are right it is, so what is your point ?

This is the gay debate forum.

Go on general CP&E if you are so offended and start another thread about the issue.

I would tell him to search within himself to discover who he is and if he is in fact gay then I'd tell him that it was perfectly fine and natural. We all have our own path to walk.

Exactly, it is a violation of trust for adults to speak to other people's children about illicit and sensitive topics regardless of intent.

Well I hope you plan on telling them about it then.

Because if the parents won't explain it, the teen is going to ask everyone else and expect answers.

Just to explain...
I have a book...excellent book that I do read to my kids about sex and sexuality...and I believe that its great to be taught in schools (so yes Im one of the parents that do sign the forms).
However if a younger person over the internet pms me in private asking or something to that effect I will refer them to a councellor or to a Minister...one that is affirming...and will talk to them.
First thing I really dont think a 14 yr old is ready to have sex...yes I did, yes I thought I was ready, but I wasnt and I personally think its way too young to even think about ones sexuality in that way...
Instead one should be getting to know themselves(not others)...maybe the person isnt really homosexual after all...(maybe another young person is really homosexual instead of heterosexual) as ones teenage yrs are full of hormones (something we go through our whole lives ;) ).

I guess what Im trying to say is the young person should enjoy their youth and not be jumping into sex...
Yes....find out who one is emotionally, physically, mentally etc...and get some guidance from parents, and non judgemental persons who are capable of councelling. Also I just believe its much safer than the internet...but again that is my opinion as a mom :)

My apologies if non of this made any sence :)

The law in Canada may still be that you can have sex as a minor/adult with another minor so long as the age difference is not more than two years.
But sex between males is illegal for anyone under the age of 21.
i cannot remember the source.
Hmmm as I was 17 when I met my dh who ws 24 at the time :holy:
that was far more than 2 yrs difference...
14 is the age that one is no longer "jailbait" which we are trying to change...which it should be...as a 25 yr old and 14 yr old just isnt ummm right with me....:sorry:

The current Conservative government has introduced a bill to raise the age of consent in Canada to 16, while retaining the "close in age" exception allowing 14 and 15 year olds to have sexual relationships with individuals less than five years older than themselves.[2] This bill is still in committee as of December 2006, awaiting a third reading
